There was a full page ad in our local newspaper stating one could buy a 30 day supply of Lipitor at one's local pharmacy for a small $4 co-pay. I thought they were kidding but nonetheless I contacted the Lipitor tel # given and applied for my wife to get a $4 co-pay Phifzer card.

Today I had her Lipitor Rx refilled for her 90 day/90 pill supply and guess what---they charged me $12 for her 90 day supply after I showed the pharmacy our Lipitor $4 co-pay card. :cheer:

This is a far cry from her usual $60 co-pay charge. Lipitor is going generic in Dec and this is Phizer's attemot at keeping people on Lipitor to stay on Lipitor. Good newsd for us. :)

My cardiologist told me about this, and we switched from Crestor to Lipitor to take advantage of it.

My insurer would not support the Lipitor card, so I had to deal with a local pharmacy for this. Lipitor will cover up to $30 of the copay, to get your out-of-pocket copay down to $4. If the copay required is more than $34 they'll cover $30 of it, leaving you with more than $4 out-of-pocket.

The rub for me was that my insurer really wants you to use their mail order service, so they pretty much limit me to 3 months at a local pharmacy. After 3 months, they severely cut back their support, leaving me with a much larger copay. In the case of Lipitor, even with Phizer covering $30 of the copay, my remaining portion was considerably higher than the copay I'd had before with Crestor. So I've now switched back to Crestor through mail order.

Lipitor will have a generic competitor out there really soon. Pfizer must be trying to get those prescriptions written now so they continue selling for another year.

.

It's $54 not $34. They will subsidize up to $50 of the $54 to make your co-pay $4. That's what the ad in the paper says.
