Is there anyone in TUG land that can explain the pricing plans at LIFETIME Fitness. I have been doing a trial (free) membership. The place is amazing.

Just would like to know what the real costs are before I commit. It would just be me for a single membership. Just to go an do cycle classes (spin).

Thanks,

Bill

I have a single membership at Lifetime and it used to be $60/month. When I turned 65 in 2014, it became free as part of my Medicare supplemental coverage.

Do you know anything about the different levels of membership?

Gold, Bronze, etc?

I believe it determines which clubs you can visit. The only club I go to is a GOLD club, so I got a GOLD membership. Occasionally, when the pool or showers are closed, they let GOLD members visit the nearby PLATINUM club, which serves beer and wine. :whoopie: If you want to visit multiple clubs in your area, you need a membership to match the highest level of the clubs you want to visit.

That's an awesome deal.

Think membership cost is close to $90/month these days. Though not sure how much variation between different levels.

How do these places that charge $60-$90 a month compare to places like Planet Fitness at only $10 a month?

The LIFETIME Athletic clubs are like an all inclusive destination resort! It really is phenomenal.

I am going only for the spin class. Maybe the pool in the summer.

Planet fitness is like for pumping iron. I don't think there are spin classes, yoga, Zumba, yada, yada ....

No classes at Planet Fitness.
That is the difference.

As mentioned, the Lifetime fitness membership levels relate to the quality level of the club you will be attending. For example my gold club is large with a pool, walking track, 2 basketball courts, multiple rooms for classes, a Pilates studio and features like a snack bar, hair salon, massage area, childcare center, etc. The dressing rooms have a whirlpool, sauna and steam room.

I think they changed their policy so that you now pick a home club and go there exclusively. I believe you can get a guest pass to another club or the same or lower level, but you can no longer make unlimited visits to any club.

I enjoy the classes and you can visit as many as you want for no charge or no need to pre-register.

My new Medicare supplement provides a free membership, which makes it a great feature. We'd been members for many years, and had a lower fee, so not sure what the current single membership is.

I've tried several lower priced clubs, but stayed with Lifetime because of some of the little things like not having to bring my own lock for the locker, plenty of fresh sweat towels and bath towels, a spinner to extract most the water from the bathing suit, a plastic bag dispenser for wet bathing suits, soap dispensers in the showers, and a staff that keeps the facility sparking clean.
