I need to get liability insurance on farm land in NE and live in CA. We cannot add it on to our homeowners as our insurance company does not write in NE. I got two quotes (farmers and state farm) with wide variation of cost from $60 to $750 for the same coverage. Any suggestions?

Why not see if joining the Farm Bureau in NE would give you a discount on insurance there? Usually annual membership is only $15. or so. I am a member in NV and my homeowners insurance is quite a bit lower because of it.

Sometimes and insurance company doesn't want to insure a certain type of risk but they may be required by the state to offer it. They can then price themselves out of the market. I am guessing if you shop around a bit more you might find more quotes closer to the lower one than the higher.
