Level up (to Presidential) by buying resale points?

I'm 1050 points short of Presidential, and considering buying enough points (1250) to level up. I assume that points acquired via resale count for tier status, right?

And assuming I can find a resale at, say $4 per point, that's $5000 for the sale, plus say $3000+ for fees for a total of $8000+, is that the right ballpark?

Your math is fine, but do you need those extra points every year? How will you use them? Why not just rent them as necessary?

Executive level is the sweet spot in the Marriott hierarchy (13 month reservations, etc.) and you are already there. What will you get for $8K other than a status label?

We were attracted to the Bonvoy Titanium Elite status that comes along with it, as well as the 30% discount 60 days prior to arrival benefit.

Real interesting question. I never really considered the value of Titanium since I'm already lifetime Titanium, but that by itself is worth a decent amount. The discount in the 60 day window is only a delta of 5%. That's only 50 points per thousand. I wouldn't spend 8k to get that perk.

I can confirm that resale can get you to next level. Bought 1000 to go from Select to Executive.
You other math is correct but I would be looking for sub $3 points. Work with someone (like a broker) who is experienced with ROFR and how to get it passed.

Fees with be ROFR fee, Transfer fee and Usually they collect the Education fee that then refund after Marriott says you don't need it.

My wife is Platinum because of MVCI since I am lifetime Titanium. Not a lot of difference.

The 48 hour is nice if you travel on business and going to crowded city to get hotel you want by client.
And the 25% more points is good but not worth that much.
Otherwise, nothing special.

The gift when you hit 75 nights is nice with the free night, but you only get that for actually nights not status.

Actually I did it the hard way. I used the old Marriott Visa to get a lot of nights and with about 28 days of timeshare nights a year plus business travel it was fairly easy to get to the required nights. Same thing with spending on the CC. I could get points quickly also. I got to lifetime Platinum and then when they changed the tiers and added Titanium I was just moved from lifetime platinum to Titanium.
