I don't know if this will work, but is there a way to indicate you forgot your password so you can reset it?

Thank for your reply. The problem is some of the key on laptop keyboard is no longer work. If I reset a new password for the laptop, there will be a code automatically generated and be sent to my email . I must enter this new code in order to reset my laptop password. I keep received message from time to time (to ask me to reset password) and choose to ignore it until now. Not sure if that is the cause for some of the laptop keyboard no longer function.

I have very limited of PC knowledge, and does not know what is the best way to do without causing more complication which I can not handle.

A couple of things to try:

There should be an icon on the lower left of the keyboard that lets you choose an onscreen keyboard.

Or, remove the battery then replace and restart.

You can also try using an external keyboard to troubleshoot.

I have a hunch you accidentally chose a different keyboard than the one you have plugged in. Go to Settings. Clock the 'Windows' key, then the icon that looks like a gear. Then choose 'Typing' It may allow you to choose an onscreen keyboard. You should be able to enter your password. You can back out by using the 'Windows' key.

Good Luck.

Thanks. I am able to log in my laptop with an external keyboard.

I did the following to trouble shoot keyboard problem:
a) device manager==> keyboard==> update driver
b) ease of access ==> keyboard==> use filter key ==> I disable this filter key ( not sure it should be enable or disable) , bt I tried both
c) device manager => keyboard ==>standard PS2 keyboard ==>update driver ==> select software update automatically
d) window security ==>keyboard==> run trouble shooter , no problem noted

Nothing I did work, some of my keyboard laptop still not working. Is there anything else I can do. Please help.

It may be a hardware issue, and not something Windows can fix.
Keep using the external keyboard, or it may be time to <horrors>
replace the laptop.

I got DW a new laptop for Christmas, this time w-a solid-state drive.
I went to "Dog Bytes Computer" (local) and had them make a clone.

Thank you ALL for your help. My Restart my laptop many times during troubleshooting of the keyboard and nothing works . I gave up and think I need to buy a new laptop .

The last time I try is to press down the power button and hold it for 30 seconds. Then start my laptop again after 5 minutes. Somehow it works and I can type any key of the keyboard and it works . I still do not know why or how it is fixed .

Anyway I am very happy and hope that it will last for many more months.
