Wesley Financial Group; I responded to their "WE CANCEL TIMESHARES FOR YOU" add in AARP Bulletin; for ~$5k they will "LEGALLY" get me out of my time share contract (or give me my $5K back); they said it could take 9 months; anybody had experience with WFG?

Search this Forum and will get many hits on this group (Search is in upper right hand corner). This was also just brought up under a different title by another member...

At best you will pay them $5000 for something you can do yourself for much much cheaper. At worst, they take your $5000 and never do what they say they will do. Read the reviews. Here is a prior thread.

@hcn9835, Wesley’s BBB accreditation was recently revoked. The latest alert at their BBB is:

“On November 20, 2019 this business' accreditation in the BBB was revoked by the BBB's Board of Directors due to its failure to uphold BBB's Accreditation Standards of Build Trust and Embody Integrity.
The business has appealed the revocation which will be considered by the BBB's Board of Directors shortly.”

Do you want to give a company like this $5000 in exchange for a “promise” from them?

NEVER pay anyone up front funds to unload your timeshare. Instead, go to the "Free Timeshare Giveaways and Bargain Deals" on TUG and give it away and save yourself a big $5,000. I assume you work hard for your money so keep your hands in your pocket and hold on to it.

In all fairness I should add that your timeshare must be owned outright (all paid off). Additionally, it will be easier for you to give it away if your 2020 maintenance fees are currently paid and up to date.

Good luck!

Keep in mind that defaulting is a legal way to get you out, it is not always without additional financial consequences. I believe they try negotiating with the timeshare company but if all else fails they will have you go the default route. They say it could take 9 months. Does the contract give them additional time before the refund provision kicks in? Is there any guarantee that there "legal" out will preserve your credit?

Do you owe money on your timeshare- loan or behind in MF's? If you are up to date and no loan, I would start by asking if your timeshare has an exit program. If not and you have specific hardship problems, you may want to share that with the resort. If not you may want to offer paying next years MF's now and an additional $500 if they take it back. If that doesn't work, try giving it away on the same terms. If that doesn't work you may want to start threatening the resort that next year would be the last year you will pay and let it go with that. All of these are cheaper than paying someone $5000 to get you out.

I've started hearing commercials for a timeshare cancellation outfit on San Diego radio stations. I don't remember if it's Wesley. Will try to notice next time.

And didn't I see an ad in an AARP publication?

I agree with DJensen above. Use the Search function. It's kind of funny. This is the third thread started in the last seven days inquiring about WFG. I guess we're at that time of year when MFs are due and owners are seeking an out for their TSs that they scarcely use.

I got banned for telling a TS how to deed back a Diamond TS for $1k, instead of spending $3k at Wesley. Is this the type of company that cares for TS owners?
