Yea, the news of the first 3 broke while we were staying there. We were fortunate...no issues.

I assume they tested the water after the first incidents. Do we know if the cases are actually caused by the hotel?

From the State of Hawaii, Department of Health posted on May 28, 2022 (link)

“DOH continues to work to ensure that the Grand Islander takes action to remediate the building and other possible sources of exposure,” said State Epidemiologist Dr. Sarah Kemble. “Individuals who stay at the Grand Islander should keep these recent cases in mind, and if they have flu-like symptoms following a stay at the hotel, should seek medical care immediately.”

They say "possible" sources of exposure and that may refer both to the building and the other sources. I do not know what the standard procedure would be if they found the bacteria in the hotel but I assume they would shut the hotel down until resolved.

It appears that there are cases in other places:

Yup, shared the only information that I could find regarding the Grand Islander at the DOH site.
