If anyone is going to be there and wants to get together just let me know.

Plans are to go to Dollywood, the big craft show in Gatlinburg & Patriots Park, the SMNP, Roaring Fork nature trail. May try to go to Clingman's Dome but will see how hard the hike up is. Will be there from Sunday to Thurs then leave to go to the Mini Cooper rally in Fontana Village , 2 br cabin (non timeshare)

Will be staying at Wyndham Smokey MTs, the one with the water park.

Any new restaurants to try out? I know we will eat at the Apple Barn, The Old Mill & Paula Deens at Harrah's.

I envy you...

Wow, GSMNP is one of our favorite places to fly fish, especially in the fall. The weather is not that bad, the colors are great, and the fish get hungry! I'm sure you'll have a great time, just be aware that there can be quite a bit of fog on a cool morning, which usually burns off by 10 a.m or a bit sooner.

Some of the trails up near Tremont and Elkmont in the park offer some excellent fall colors. We like going into the park via Townsend; seems to be a bit less traffic that way.

Thanks to all for all the great information! We are thinking about going late May/early June next year, so maybe we'll miss some of the crowds that way.
Shaggy, can you let me know how you like the Wyndham, particularly as it relates to getting to the Park? ( I also have an AC & week to exchange in II, so I could use one of those instead of Wyndham points if the Gatlinburg location is better...)
Many thanks all...glad to hear all the positive things about the area!

There last week

We were at the Wyndam Wilderness Lodge in the Smokies (the one with the indoor water park) last weekend. We were not in the timeshare buildings, but in the lodge itself. Our granddaughter was in a gymnastic meet there at the adjacent convention center. The lodge is very nice, however, as we usually stay in timeshare condos, found these rooms VERY small. The water park is great for kids. However, be warned that the traffic in the area is beyond belief, especially on weekends. Plan on long slow drives to go anywhere. The leaves are turning colors and are beautiful. Have a great trip to our beautiful state.

Never b een to Townsend so maybe I'll try that way. Lucky me will not be there on the weekend. On the weekend I'll be in a different are of the smokies. Plan on coming home thru Cashiers, Brevard, to see all the great waterfalls that you don't have to wal to.

Deb, will let you know about travel from wyndham/sevierville to the park, that is my main concern.

We just returned on Saturday from there. We stayed at the Old Smoky Mtn resort because the new one is just too far away. We had a great time but the crowds were much larger than we expected. We drove to Cherokee too to see Paula Deen's restaurant. The Applewood Farmhouse restaurant was great. The Old Mill was not so great. Make sure if you drive to Cades Cove that you leave very early. It was very very crowded. The crowds during the week seemed worse than the weekend, but maybe it was just because the first weekend was so early. We did the drive through Townsend from Cades Cove to Maryville. We hadn't ever seen that area before. The drive from Townsend back to Seiverville was pretty too. We found an apple orchard with wonderful apples and jams out by Gatlinburg.

Hi everyone,

If you stay at the Wyndham Vacation Resorts Great Smokies Lodge, do you get to use their waterpark at no cost since you are a guest staying there? I know only guests have access to the water park but i wanted to verify if there was an additonal cost if you go thru a timeshare. Can someone please verify? Thx!!!!!!

I'm back!!! AWESOME!!!!

Avery, when you check in you will get wristsbands for each member of your party at no extra cost.

OMG, this was one of my very fav exchanges. It was the first time in over 20 years that Kelli said, Mom, when can we come back? She loved the waterpark. Someone told me that it was better than Dollywood's Splash Country. I liked it because it was containd in one area and you didn't have to walk a country mile to get to a ride. Kelli stayed there one day from 11 to 8 when it closed. Betty & I went to the Convention Center and Cades Cove.

The colors were gorgeous. The ride to GSMNP wasn't that bad when you use the back roads. I wish this resort was in Gatlinburg but I can forget about that ever happening again as Kelli loved it so much.

Excellent, thanks for confirming. Glad to had a great time. We stayed there last year in the Hotel portion and loved it. This will be our first time staying in the lodge via a timeshare. We are excited as well .just booked a 1 bedroom for our kids Spring Break. Should be fun! :whoopie:
