I am new to Wyndham and have a newby question. In order to save points on an April-March contract, do they have to be saved at the end of the calendar (Dec. 31) or the end of the contract year (March 31)?

Unless you are Platinum VIP, you can't credit pool points from the current April-March use year, which is technically 2016 use year points. You can credit pool 2017 points up until March 31, later if you are VIP.

You are a wealth of information. For my benefit, could you explain please, the book, isn't very good when it comes to the irregularities.

If this is directed at me, thank you, and I'm not sure what you want me to explain. If it's the specifics of when you can credit pool by VIP level, that's:

Gold - within 6 months of your use year
Platinum - within 9 months of your use year

Stated another way, you have until 6 months prior to points expiring to credit pool if you're gold; until 3 months prior to points expiring to credit pool if you're Platinum. You get no extra time at the Silver VIP level and must credit pool before the start of the use year.

Yes it was the. More about when use year starts for non January to December use year, I thought that if it starts April 1, 2016, he could deposit before that date 2016 points. Apparently not?

The definitions here are a bit fuzzy. Wyndham uses only a single yearly designation for points. And, the yearly designation comes from the year of the end date for the points.

So, points that were allocated April 1, 2015 are called 2016 points since the end date is March 31, 2016. Points to be allocated on April 1, 2016 will be called 2017 points, and can certainly be pooled up through March 31, 2016.

Thanks. Makes no sense since the directory quotes start date, but guess that's Wyndham for you. Now I would wonder if that affects ARP?

No impact to ARP, which remains 13 months in advance of check-in date regardless of the use year of the points.

I was wondering about that. When I was silver, I asked about using my, non direct, points, for or points I needed to complete a reservation, was told can't do that. Did I read wrong, if I pooled them it's a possibility?

I don't know the specifics of your situation, but if you were using regular use year UDI points for a reservation at that home resort, you can use those points 13 months in advance of check-in date whether you purchased the points resale or retail.

Similarly, if you were using CWA points, you can use them 13 months in advance of check-in for any CWA reservation, using CWA inventory.

You have to have all the points you need for an ARP reservation at the resort, or you can't make it. You can't combine from another contract, all the points needed for an ARP resort have to come from contract(s) with points at that resort.

OK, that's what I thought, pretty much by the book, use year only, not pooled points.
