Hi everyone, we are a family of four with 2 teenage sons. We are thinking of going to Las Vegas in the summer of 2013. Yes I know it will be hot, but with the school and baseball schedule this is the only time we can travel. I have seen mixed reviews on tripadvisor concerning Planet Hollywood, which is available for the time we would travel. Does anyone have any comments about this resort, or about any other one that may be a good choice? Also, we would like to do sightseeing in the immediate area, and would love any advise on what to do. Thank you, Sue

Sue,

We have been to Las Vegas 15+ times. We stayed at PH back when it was Aladdin. It was a very nice hotel. Its location is very good. Walking distance to many casinos. Their buffet was very good. You will need a car for anything off strip. The web site Vegas.com will give you an idea of the shows that are available. Check with the venue for a better price. Also check tix4tonight for 1/2 price show tickets. We have used them many times, a very good value. We will be going again this summer and will be staying at South Point for about $60 per day after taxes. :hi:

I will bump my thread from last year to the top..lots of Vegas ideas.
We are going back in April. Last time was a last minute trip and we stayed at the Monarch. It is about 5 miles from the meat of the strip. The units were very nice and the pool was awesome with great waterslides that the adults enjoyed. There are pool rafts to float on..free. It was a little bit of a pain to get to the strip, but we were near good grocery stores like Whole Foods and a discount chain across the street. Also some restaurants. I did a review.

We are going to Sedona in April and decided to revisit Las Vegas and stay on the strip. We picked up the Marriott..figured it will be different staying on the strip. Actually a half block off. We love the shows.

Lots of good suggestions on the thread from last year. Planet Hollywood pool is supposed to be nice, but people in the mall can see you as there is a window into the Planet Hollywood shopping area. Watch the Bellagio fountain
several times. It is not the same every:cheer: time.

Hi,

If you decide to go to the Grand Canyon while in Sedona try this little trick. Do not go West when you get to Flag Staff. Keep going north. You will pass Lava National/State Park and enter the Grand Canyon National park on the East end. You will not need to double-back to see the Western section. You will also get to see different territory from what you will see on your trip back from the GC on the common used route.
