I will be headed to Vegas at the end of September for a particular event.

I'd like advice on do's and don'ts and what to see and do for someone who's not into Vegas.

I don't gamble and I don't like magic shows or impersonator acts. (Although I wouldn't mind seeing a Rat Pack tribute show.)

I like some older acts. I'd like to see that indoor shopping area with the blue sky ceiling. I like history and might enjoy something about the mob in Vegas. I'd also be interested in something Elvis-related.

Due to the weather, I don't want to be outdoors or walking much.

Thanks for your help!

The Mob Museum is excellent and there are some walking tours down in Fremont street that go over the history of old Vegas.

Hi! Yes I've owned Worldmark for several years. I've actually posted here for years, last time being last August. When I tried to log in again, it would not recognized my email address. I tried several times and just gave up and signed up again. That's how I chose my user name --- I am rleigh!

Thanks! The mob museum sounds awesome. I love walking tours and if they're mostly indoors that would be great, but they usually aren't. I'll check them out, thanks!

The "indoor shopping area with the blue sky ceiling" is probably at the Venetian. They have a replica of the streets of Venice, complete with gondolas you can ride in. The lighting on the ceiling changes with time of day, and the clouds move. It's pretty cool to see.

Other shows to consider: Anything by Cirque du Soleil, and the Beatles' LOVE (also a Cirque show.) If you look at Vegas.com website, you can get a feel for what there is to see and do. There are discount ticket booths around town that sell discounted tickets on the day.

Weather in September should be highs in the 90’s and lows about 70. It dry there so walking around outside really shouldn’t be bad. We have been there I. July before, that’s hot but they have a lot of misters out that must water and keep you cool. It’s not too bad.

The Miracle Mile at Planet Hollywood is what I associate with blue sky with shopping. Planet Hollywood is one of the few places left with free parking. Another large shopping area is the Forum at Caesar's Palace. Temp in late Sept is not bad, and some years are cooler than others. If you have a car, check out Valley Of Fire and be sure to go to the White Dome to start a half mile of scenic drive. Red Rock Canyon is less spectacular and a shorter drive but Valley Of Fire wins hands down.

The three places above are a must see for indoor shopping centers. The Venetian and Ceasars are my favorites. All those places are a long walk from each other and Uber works good. I also recommend a tour of the Hoover Dam. So many great shows and concerts that it is too hard to recommend one unless we know more about your budget and how many you want to see. Finding a good show close to where you are staying sometimes works best.

Another thing I would recommend is the Neon Museum. It is an outdoor museum of old neon signs from the old hotels and a guide walks the group through it and shares the history. Best to see it at night so you get the full affect and even more so during the summer months. It sells out, so you should buy tickets online in advance. It is located about one mile north of Fremont Street.

Another fun site is the Garden Conservatory in the Bellagio. It is free and they change the creative displays about 5-6 times during the year. It is indoors and well worth a visit. If you visit make sure you go around the outside to the left and down the hallway. There is a chocolate shop that has a chocolate fountain that they say is the largest in the world. Another interesting site.

Enjoy!

Best regards.

Mike

+1 for Hoover Dam. Go early. They sell timed entry tickets, and if you are late, it can either be a loooong wait for your time, or you'll be turned away. The reason being that the are only a couple of elevators, and it's a long ride down to the workings deep in the dam.

There is a nice museum on the building of the dam to occupy you while waiting for your tour.

I'm not nuts about Vegas but a couple of months ago we saw KA and I thought it was pretty good. Years ago we saw Love and it was pretty good. These are Cirq shows.

On a group trip with a bunch of us staying in town for a concert in late Sept we went to the Pole Position go cart track for some racing. It was fun. We also went to the gun range which was interesting.

On a different trip to see a concert we did the indoor sky diving dealio.

We like the entertainment at the Nine Fine Irishmen when it gets rowdy. Almost everyone sings along with the Irish bar songs.

Nothing wrong with doing laps in the lazy river at the WM.

Hi! Yes I've owned Worldmark for several years.
If you'll be staying at the Worldmark on LV Blvd., you'll be fairly close to the South Point Hotel/Casino. We go to shows there 3-4 times a month and love the size and feel of the showroom. The shows are great, the ticket prices are reasonable, and the drinks in the showroom are much less expensive than on the Strip. Check out their website for upcoming shows and a picture of the showroom to get an idea of what it's like: https://southpointcasino.com/entertainment/showroom They haven't announced their shows for September yet, but you can check back before your trip if you're interested.

If you want to see a great show on the Strip, see The Bronx Wanderers. https://www.thebronxwanderers.com We're actually seeing them tonight for about the third or fourth time. They perform at the Linq Hotel (used to be the Imperial Palace). The Linq entertainment corridor is another recommendation for many restaurants, bars, and shops. It's a pedestrian corridor that runs from the Strip (opposite Caesars Palace) to the base of the High Roller observation wheel. We like The Yardhouse there as well as In and Out Burgers, of course. You'll find a lot of choices, reasonable prices, and you don't have to walk long distances to get to all of them. You can valet park at the High Roller and I think it's about $15.

Another place to go not far from the Worldmark is Town Square: https://mytownsquarelasvegas.com It's a good place to walk around, shop, eat, & drink with lots of restaurants, bars, shops, and a movie theater.

The weather should be nice the end of September. Hope you have a great time.

+1 on a Cirque show. We've seen several in Las Vegas, most of the touring shows, and the one in Orlando. My favorite in Las Vegas is still Mystere. It's the longest running Cirque show there, and still wonderful. I've seen it twice, and would go again.

Are you staying on the strip? If so where are you close too? Will you have a car? October usually is still a good month, as locals go on mini vacations then. Will your hotel have a shuttle? How long will you be there? Elvis - Westgate Hotel google

Great advice plus the Linq corridor takes you into the Flamingo and I think Harrahs?. Town Square has a Whole Foods and really is nice to walk around in. Good Food in Southpoint and lot of choices

I'm not sure about there being an entrance into Harrah's from the Linq as we didn't go that far west. There is a good entrance to The Linq Hotel through O'Shea's bar though.

We just got back from Vegas. We have gone the last three years. All the hotels are fun to walk around and see. The bellagio has the fountains and the indoor conservatory. The Venetian has gondola rides, NyNY has the Brooklyn Bridge. Paris has the Eiffel tower. This time we did the High Roller rollercoaster. It moves very slowly around. It takes about 30 minutes and the views are great. We did the bar car and it was open bar for 30 minutes. We went at sunset so we watched the lights come on. $35 pp. We saw the Beatles show Love 2 years in a row because we loved it so much. We walked a lot, took the tram between some hotels (Aris, Bellagio) and Uber's around. The Stratosphere is also a great place to visit or each lunch or dinner. There is so much to see even if you don't gamble.

Glad you had a great time. Just to clarify: the High Roller is an observation wheel, not a roller coaster, and I think it's cool, too!:)
