My brother-in-law is going the week after New Year. I was shocked to learn he has to pay $26/day to park. What are the choices to get from the airport to the timeshare? Shuttles? one way rentals that are not too expensive? There will be 4 in his party.

Thanks in advance.

If it is an exchange, or a Marriott owner, he does not pay parking. It is only valet, so tipping is involved, but we have never paid parking charges for one car for up to two bedroom. If he is paying cash, some people say they use the casino lot behind Harrahs with no problem, but NOT the Rayley's lot in the other direction.

The Residence Club pays parking. Timber Lodge does not as an owner/guest stay or Interval exchange.

Residence club owners and guests using owner time do not pay for parking. I do not know about interval exchangers having to pay for parking at residence club.

There is free parking within a long block behind Harrah's.

It's not really feasible to take a shuttle from the airport - the airport is in Reno, about an hour away.

Also - I can't imagine being in Tahoe without a car. It's the kind of place where you need a car - especially in the winter.

We were in Tahoe in May this year via II exchange and we didn't have to pay parking at all, just tipping for the valet parking. Call Marriott before you go and they should give you the correct info. that's what we did then.
