Please see following a letter that I have sent to the Board of Directors at MOC -- if you have any similar feelings, can you please add a reply to this thread -- if there is enough support for this idea, I will forward the thread to the BOD to further evidence that I'm not the only person who cares.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Lahaina Villas views

Dear BOD,

I am the owner of Week 24, Unit 4205/4206, an Oceanfront category property. We stayed recently at the MOC facility and loved it -- it is in terrific shape, and the staff and service was excellent. We look forward to many happy returns.

We are, however, concerned about the obstructed views from our 4th floor unit, which are severely impacted. I would ask the BOD to look into the tree pattern/view currently in place at MOC, and to carefully evaluate if the existing number of trees are truly needed (or wanted by the owners) in front of Lahaina Villas.

The opening of Napili Villas in 2009 provides a rare opportunity to relocate excess trees from Lahaina Villas, at minimal cost to the association. This would also "balance" the number of trees, to provide consistent view planes between the properties.

I would hope that, once Napili Villas is completed, that the tree impact on views is consistent between Lahaina Villas and Napili Villas (and the original tower), such that one property is not deemed to have inferior views. This balance will help to keep the values (and attractiveness) of the facilities on par. I am concerned that this will be the case if there is not a number of trees that are removed or moved.

Thank you for considering this request.

Regards,

Greg

I completely concur. The existing placement and number of trees essentially makes the fourth floor units very limited ocean view, not ocean front.

Interesting. I have a related question/concern. Will the existing trees remain on the north side of the original MOC tower? These are not Palm Trees, but large trees that grow very thick and block the view. I noticed that they were cut back (but not removed) during the construction. Seems crazy to have tall, thick trees that block beautiful ocean views, particularly when you have to cut them down to not much more than a stump during construction. These trees can block the view for floors 1-4.
