I dont want to be across the street from the beach. but would like a 2 bedroom.

are my chances better if i book a one bedroom to be beachside, as opposed to a 2 bedroom (from which I understand is across the street?)

I don't know how to get a beachfront either. When we were there 3 years ago, we had a 2-bedroom unit across the road. The unit only had one bathroom, so it was a bit crowded for 4 people. These units are quite small. the only thing I liked about being on the other side of the road, was that the pool was always empty. It was like having our own private pool.

There is a site plan in the reviews for this resort.

I believe they are a resort where you can place it on hold, phone RCI and get the unit number. Of course that is never an absolute guarantee but that's what I remember when I was looking at this resort for an exchange at one time.

Yes you can call and I have done this and compared to location map. You can also call the resort after calling RCI to confirm the location Every time I called about a 2 bedroom it was on the other side of the street. We finally found a one bedroom on the beach side. I came to the conclusion of I wanted a beach side that I needed to settle for a one bedroom. Maybe you will be lucky and find a 2 bedroom beach side. We will be ther in May and hoping that the love bugs are not a problem on the beach.

At Lahaina Inn, there are exactly six 2BR units on the Gulf side of Estero Blvd.
They are #22, 25, 34, 35, 38, 39.

Units 42 -47 are the 2BR units which are not on the Gulf side of Estero Blvd. and are (imho, anyhow) unacceptably close to the road. Units 42, 43, 46, 47 are 2 BR, 1 bath. Units 44 and 45 are 2BR, 2 bath.

Any unit number not identified above is a 1 BR unit on the Gulf side of Estero Blvd., with only 3 exceptions:
#23 and 24 (in the same building as Unit 22) are "efficiencies", and...
#11 is the one and only 3BR unit on the property.

Hope this info helps in your conversations with the resort and / or RCI.

Thanks Theo, good info to have.
I've actually stayed in the 3 bedroom. It's like a little house all by itself in front of the pool. We had a great vacation there with extended family. :D

So if you take the 1 bedroom you're guaranteed gulfside? ;)

Yes, but...

Yes, but not being an exchanger myself (...nor any fan of RCI), I don't know if you would have to be wary of the possibility of getting put into one of the two efficiencies (#23 or 24) instead of getting a legitimate full 1 BR unit. All 1BR units are indeed on the Gulf side of Estero Blvd --- but so are the two "efficiencies".

Call me a cynic, but I always have to wonder if the word "efficiency" is maybe the phonetic pronunciation version of an old Caloosa or Seminole Indian word which means "...teeny tiny motel room-like space".

Oh, I won't be accepting an efficiency if my exchange says 1 bedroom. I'd just have to tell them that I'm a native Floridian and I'll sick my gators on them if they don't give me the right room. :D
