Anybody been? Need things to do in the area. We are leaving in two weeks with our two dogs in tow (pre-arranged with the resort).

Any suggestions would be appreciated!!
TIA:wave:

Beautiful little town! You are in the pines..... hiking, fishing and relaxing. Kohl's Ranch has some cute little restaurants as does Payson. You will probably have clear mornings and rain showers in the afternoon. Enjoy the woods!

Take a little side trip to Tonto Natural Bridge State park (http://www.pr.state.az.us/Parks/TONA/index.html http://www.americansouthwest.net/arizona/tonto_natural_bridge/state_park.html), north of Payson (west-northwest of Kohl's Ranch about 15 miles). If your hiking interest/abilities are zero to moderate, go on the River Trail, but if you are able/interested in a slight challenge, the Waterfall Trail is not to be missed; the Gowan Loop Trail is worth the huffing and puffing.

Payson has a few very interesting antique shops; don't miss the one on the east side of Beeline Highway, just north of the intersection with 260.

Four or five miles east of Kohl's Ranch, at Christopher Creek, there's a trout hatchery that's open to the public.

If you're more of a behind-the-wheel sightseer, take the trip east through Show Low and south on US 60 towards Globe, through the Grand Canyon of the Salt River ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salt_River_(Arizona) ).
