Aloha good people! Hoping one of you experts can help me out. We own several weeks at Ko Olina and love going there. We normally book two bedroom lock-offs and generally bring family/friends to use the secondary unit. However, this year we decided to split and rent out the lockoff studio one of our weeks. I had to pay $95 to make that change. It seems to me I am better off booking, when I book for 2026, to have them be separate units from the start. That is, the one bedroom and the studio separate. It seems to me, and this is what I am looking for confirmation of, KOBC will likely put our units next together if we ask... and if not, they'll already be separated, and thus easier to rent out without having to waste $95.

Mahalo!

You have to pay the $95 lock-off fee no matter if you decide to lock it off upfront or later- doesn't matter.

Keep in mind..... Once you lock off you will be unable to put it back together.

Personally I never lock off unless or until I know I need to rent it or use it as a lock off.

Even if you reserve both sides for the same week, there is no guarantee you could use it as a 2BR. In fact reservations and owner services will say it cannot be done. We have done this and it is possible, if rooms control will do it and the adjacent units are available.

As noted, you always have to pay the lockoff fee when reserving anything less than the 2BR or splitting one. When did you buy your weeks? If before 6/2010 you can enroll for free and get free lockoff, interval account and trades, and free retrades with your annual club dues. You also could elect your unit for Abound points if you needed to for some reason.

FYI - if you are eligible to enroll your deeded weeks, you might consider doing so. Enrolled weeks do not pay lock off fees and the Abound dues cover your II membership too. You can be a part of Abound and pay the dues and never use the election option, you can continue to use your deeded weeks as you always have.

Thank you all for the good info. Week are not eligible for enrolling unless they offer some "deal" which I will probably refuse. Thank you all. Great info!
