Went to the sales presentation yesterday at MVC Ko Olina Beach Resort. Was impressed with our Sales Representative (Peter Hu for those who may go). Was informative, no pressure meeting professionally done. The major pitch for those of us who are Legacy DC members is the promise of future properties to access that inventory. The weakness in the pitch is that they have nothing that they can confirm on "what that is" either because corporate has not released that information to them or that it has not been officially announced and as a public company they can't do that yet.

I generally do not convert my properties into MR points because I think that they are not a very good exchange. He did however show some air + hotel offers to Europe and other international destinations which, considering the cost of airfare and hotels for two looked interesting. Have any of you done that?

The major pitch for those of us who are Legacy DC members is the promise of future properties to access that inventory.
I'm not sure what this means.

But if the pitch has anything to do with the idea that buying Trust point somehow makes existing "legacy" DC points from enrolled inventory behave differently (and that it's possibly even the only way to have any access to future Marriott-branded timeshare resorts), then the salesperson is perpetuating a falsehood that's been reported on this forum a number of times.

I generally do not convert my properties into MR points because I think that they are not a very good exchange. He did however show some air + hotel offers to Europe and other international destinations which, considering the cost of airfare and hotels for two looked interesting. Have any of you done that?

The air + hotel packages can be a good deal for someone who normally pays many thousands of dollars for international business class (or many, many thousands of dollars for international first class) and then pays rack rate for category 8 Marriott and Renaissance hotel nights. The math does not work out as well when compared to economy class airfare and promotional hotel rates at regular hotels.

It's hard to justify buying points and then committing to annual maintenance fees on those points just to be able to supplement Marriott Rewards balances. If you want extra Marriott Rewards points, you can buy up to 50,000 points per calendar year from Points.com at the rate is $12.50 (USD) per 1,000 points.
