Looking at ads on 2BR Redweek for MKO, some mention twin beds in 2nd BR. I have read threads that state that this configuration is the 2BR side of a 3BR, and that deeded 2BR will never have this configuration. If so, why are they listed this way? Listings are from a well known Hawaii broker.

On a related note, can you always lock off a 2BR at MKO?

Aren't there some dedicated 2BR units? If so, then it will always be based on availability. I also think any time it is always based on availability as they may restrict the number of 2BR units that can be locked off. I have heard of this at resorts like Ocean Pointe. People have has issues where they reserved a 2BR and later wanted to lock it off. Or where there are studios and 1BR units available but they can't book a 2BR.

That is what I am trying to understand. Threads that I read said there were parts of 3BR and also some dedicated (non lock off) 2br units, I thought. I understand if there is a mix locking off is subject to availability.

Certainly if there is a mix of dedicated 2BR and lock off 2BR, then locking off is based on availability. However if all the 2BR units lock off then it isn't as much about availability as it might be about policy. The 2BR side of a 3BR unit would have no impact on a 2BR unit owner making a reservation as they should not be placed in such a unit when reserving their 2BR.

Only way to get a 2br with double beds in the second bedroom is with the 2br portion of a 3br. You cannot get this configuration with any 2br unit. You have to use a 3br unit to get a 3br with this configuration.

All MKO deeded 2br can be locked off, as long as they are available. Any 2br unit owner at MKO can reserve a single entry 2br unit as long as it is available at time of booking.

Thank you Frank. So strange these ads by a well known Hawaii broker have it wrong. I trust you over them!
