Last weekend my mixer broke and now I'm in the process of looking for another one. Any input anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated!

First let me start by saying that I don't bake a lot; only during the holidays. So, I've already decided I'm not going to spend a lot of money on a Kitchen Aid Mixer. I know they are very good but I just don't use it often enough to justify the expense.

Unless someone else has an idea, I have narrowed things down to two choices:

1. Sunbeam Heritage Mixer, Model 2353. It has 350W motor and a 4.6 quart bowl. It really is just a basic model. The cost is $90

2. Cooks 12 speed, 5 quart Mixer. This has a 700W motor. This is the JC Penney brand. On Friday morning, they have this mixer on sale for $128 plus a $30 rebate.

Both mixer are approximately the same cost. Initially, I thought the Cooks mixer would be better. But, I haven't been able to find very much information on the web about this mixer at all. There are very few reviews, which in itself, makes me a little nervous.

The main thing I need the mixer for is cookie dough and banana nut bread. If you have either one of the mixers above and can provide some information, I would appreciate it!

Thanks.

I think that Walmart has a Kitchen Aid Mixer on sale Friday morning for $139, which is a phenominal price.

BTW... you get what you pay for, the Kitchen Aid is worth the extra price, IMHO!

Re:

If it were me, I would buy a low end Kitchen Aid. I started out with the low end and had it for many years, passed it on to a new owner, and bought the high end one. I don't think anything compares to a Kitchen Aid. I have seen the low end models as low as $139 this time of year. I give mine good work outs and have never had a problem. I have given both our daughter and daughter in law the low end models as gifts. Just my 2 cents worth.

New mixer each year

My wife does heavy duty baking each year at the holiday time and each year she seemed to ruin another mixer so I bought her one of the better Kitchen Aids and it has been great. In fact, now I get a lot made for our family all year.

If you are interested in a Kitchenaid, there is a great site to watch for discounts - http://kitchendailydeal.blogspot.com/. The top of the line 600 watt kitchenaid was on sale (brand new) for $239 and free shipping as well as a free ice cream maker attachment.

I love my kitchenaid mixers - I have 2 that I use for pasta making - one to roll out the pasta dough and the other to make the fettuccine. I mainly use it for kneading bread dough for sourdough loaves. It is a great machine.

first to the hijack. bfads, gottadeal. just google black friday ads, you'll see several sites.

Now to the Mixer, I too would go for a Kitchen Aid on sale. But if you are set that you don't want one of those, I actually have a hand mixer that is about the next best thing.

My second choice would be a Cuisinart HM70 hand mixer. They are about $50 regular price. It can handle the thickest chocolate chip/macadamia nut cookie dough recipe I have. (one that makes 6 dozen giant cookies ... in other words, a whole lotta dough). BubbaQ has had his for 12 years. He'd still be using it all the time if I didn't give him my original Kitchen Aid when I decided I NEEDED a pink one.

What I need is a good deal on a Food Processor! I would like a Kitchen-Aid and to be at least 10-cup.

Kohls has the 'food network' food processor on sale this friday, but I am not sure who makes it.

Great link. I just got a refurbished Kitchenaid Artisan Mixer for $189. Remember to google "kitchenaid coupon" and find free shipping! Now, does anyone know where to get cheap Shun knives other than eBay?
