Booked Kings Land for early February. Noticed the website says that state of Hawaii charges per night taxes? Do owners get charged those? And if so, how much am I looking at. Also, if so, I think HGVC needs to make that more clear on the site.

That is the norm at all Hawaiian resorts. They all have to collect State of Hawaii Occupancy taxes, and you have to pay them whether you are an owner, renter, or exchanger. It varies from resort to resort - I'm going to say that Kings Land is in the range of $20 per night, but don't remember exactly. It's probably on your confirmation, or on a link on your confirmation.

*If your reservation is through RCI, there are additional fees.

It’s Stare of Hawaii so it’s for every hotel/resort I believe. When we were at Kings’ Land in May 2019 it was in the $70’s total for 7 nights

Thanks. New owners first time going to Hawaii so didn't know. All it says in the confirmation is:
  • The state of Hawaii assesses a lodging tax to guests staying at this resort. A deposit of $250 for incidentals is required at check-in.
I guess that's notice, but it probably could be clarified better. Seems a little too vague and I wasn't sure if that meant it applied to owners or rental guests and there's no indication of how much it is. Thanks for the reply!

Todd - That section on the confirmation is fixed, but the actual amount varies widely depending on the resort and the size of the unit, and other variables. Hawaii is also known for changing the tax rates. In general, the Hawaii Occupancy Tax ranges from about $10 per night to about $25 per night. If you call, the front desk may be able to tell you the actual amount, but I wouldn't count on it, because front desks are infamous for giving out inaccurate info. It will be on your folio at check-out, and you should be able to get an accurate answer when you check-in.
