Hi,

I own with 2 other companies, but don't know anything about KCP. They seem to be a single resort (well, 3 at the same location) as opposed to Marriott and larger companies that have multiple locations.

I'm wondering how well KCP trades within the Interval system. How do KCP points convert to II points? For example, if I buy 90,000 points at KCP - what does that get me in II? Is there good "trading power" compared to more traditional, larger timeshare companies? Is it equal to other companies (deposit points, then request a week in II)? Any difficulty getting time at the KCP resort itself?

Thanks for any & all info!

Williamsburg summer weeks trade decently through II. You can't buy II converted points resale. If you buy from someone who has converted, it will convert back to the original deeded week or float week upon transfer. You would have to pay the developer to convert the week back into points and that costs in the $3000 range to do so. You can see the chart on page 5 of II's Disclosure Guide

I own two cottages at KCP and love the resort. I bought both on ebay at a fraction of the developer price. I've had better luck trading through II than RCI (I'm members, for now, of both). I've traded my 1br side for 2br Marriotts in Orlando as well as in Aruba. I can't speak to the points system as I wasn't interested. The main benefit to trading the cottages is to split up the lock off and deposit the 1br and the 2br. I've never had a problem getting a prime Summer week (I own Red 1-52, do NOT buy anything else) but I'm a planner who books well in advance.

I own a 4 bedroom Townes unit. Not a bad trader for the next to nothing price that KCP units can be had for.

KCP is one resort complex with 3 sections. The Townes are all 4 bedroom lock offs which lock off to two completely seperate two bedroom units. The Cottages are three bedroom lock offs which are a two bedroom and a one bedroom. The Estates has one, two and three bedroom units with similar lock off capability but different layouts.

As the other poster said, points dont transfer. You are buying the deeded week. You do not want to pay to convert to points. It is a complete waste of money you will never recover.
