Need some tips from travel experts for some Kid-friendly New Year's events/dinners in Carlsbad/Oceanside.

We'll be in Oceanside on 12/30 - 1/4/09. We have a 5yo son and a 6month old daughter. Here's our itinerary so far.
1) 12/31 - Legoland of course!. We've been to Legoland xx times (My son has an Ambassador lifetime membership), but we've never been on their NewYears Eve event/party. Hopefully it doesn't rain or SNOW!
2) Sealife aquarium -- not sure yet what day to go.
3) Carlsbad outlet -- not for the kids, but for MOM & DAD

Can you recommend any other events/dinners/restaurants over New Year's week? I'm already familiar with all the regular attractions/theme parks on the SanDiego area, but I'm looking specifically for special New Year's or holiday events.
On 12/31, Legoland closes at 7pm (their New Year's countdown starts at 6pm). Depending on the kids' moods, we may just have some time to have a special New Year's dinner in a restaurant (no cooking at the resort for me!). We can't afford those high-end expensive New Year's dinners, just the midrange or low-end ones :) Please list your recommendations

Thanks!!! Happy Holidays!

I am no weather guru....but I can guarantee you, it will NOT snow at Legoland on New Years, now rain that is another issue! :D

Yup I was joking (but just half-joking.... cause I never imagined I would see snow in the Porter Ranch mountains). I'm from Simi Valley, and I saw all those snow-capped mountains (visible all-throughout San Fernando valley!!).

:cheer:

I can't help you, but in the same thread, we will be in Anaheim from December 27th thru January 2nd. We will be going to the Rose Bowl Parade with DD & DS ages 9 and 11 on the 1st.
We were also thinking of doing the Legoland New Year's Eve, but think my 11year old will be bored.
Are there any other ideas for New Year's Eve from Oceanport to the Los Angeles area that would be fun for kids.
We are already planning Disneyland during the week (I know it will be crowded, but they want to see it, been to DisneyWorld soooo many times)...

Thanks

Well you never know. When I was a teenager it snowed IN THE VALLEY, at the Old Topanga Plaza in Canoga Park!

It will be tough to find a "low key" restaurant for New Year's Eve dinners in North County. Most are either special events or closed. I'll keep my eyes open.

It sounds great! But not sure if hubby and me will have any energy left (my kids don't have a problem with energy and late-night sleeping, I wish we can slurp their energy!)

I've been to First Night in Monterey and in Santa Cruz. They can be a lot of fun, assuming you (or your little ones) don't get too tired or cold. First Night was formed to be a family oriented alternative for New Years celebrations. It should be good family fun.
