I am thinking about going to Key West in Nov. :cheer: Does anyone have any suggestions on good places to eat and things to do while I am there?

Thanks!

Do some searching...

With a little search effort, you can easily find many (quite recent) TUG threads addressing all manner of assorted restaurant recommendations.

As far as "things to do", individuals vary. You may wish to check out the Marine Aquarium, visit historic Fort Taylor (Civil War era), tour the Old Town architecture, see the USS Maine Memorial plot in the cemetery if you are a history buff. Tour the Hemingway House, catch the daily "sunset circus" at Mallory Square, knock a few back at the Hog's Breath Saloon with your soon-to-be-new friends. I'd go on, but my tastes aren't necessarily yours...

Joe pa, would you go ahead and retire so Bobby Bowden can pass you in wins and retire too? Florida State is hanging in there for Bobby, but things aren't going well for FSU like they are at Penn State. My parents both graduated FSU and the last few seasons are taking years off of their lives.

If you don't retire, at least you are watching the game from the air conditioned comfort of a sky box now.

JoePa, thanks for sharing your list! Too bad I'll only be able to try out a handful since I'll only be there two days. But that's the reason why I like to get good reccomendations because I don't have time to waste.;)

If you snorkel or scuba dive, the coral reef is excellent. On my scuba trips with Southpoint divers (where I got certified) I saw nursary shark, another type of shark, moon jellies, baraccuda and a lot of other fish and corals. Althought from what I heard, Ike did a bit of damage to the reefs.

Alonzos is great for happy hour 4-6:30pm where you get half price drinks and half price appetizers.

Damn Good Food take out opposite Galleon and around the corner from Alonzos is great for sandwiches, etc. and I had an excellent blackened grouper sandwich with fries.

Half Price Raw Bar at the historical seaport has happy hour with 50cent oysters and on Wed 6-9, all you can eat crab legs.

Sloppy Joes is good for drinks and have live music on the weekends. So does Green Parrot.

I liked a local spot Hogfish Grill on Stock Island but it can be easy to get lost without a GPS.
