We are in Key West now. I have done Tug research, so we have eaten at great places so far like BO's Fish Wagon, Kelly's Caribbean Bar, Blue Heaven. We love the unique atmosphere and reasonable prices. Now we need to find a couple more. Any suggestions? I had also read about Meteor Smokehouse and Banana Cafe. We went to Sloppy Joes and Hog's Breath Saloon for a drink. What are we missing? We do not go to the expensive places to eat.

Much Appreciated.

Headed there next week. Any recommendations the best happy hour on Duvall?

Also how has the parking been? Any tips? Staying at the Banyan Tree.

A good musician to go see that is playing this week at Margaritaville is Scott Kirby. Great lyrics and good music. Plays nightly at 9:30.

Fishbusterz Fisheries is somewhere we will check out when we go in May. Here is the address. Great seafood I've been told. 6840 Front St, Key West,
Cross Streets: Near the intersection of Front St and 4th Ave

Schooner Wharf Bar is also a favorite among return KW vacationers

Louie's Backyard

Let us know what you think and some places you enjoyed. My recommendations are purely based off reviews of others that go to KW often. Like I said our 1st trip is in May. Can't wait. Enjoy

Hey Daug, you do know the address for Fishbusterz Fisheries, aka: Shrimp Shack, is for Stock Island. They are located one block past Hogfish Restaurant as you make a left hand turn, they aren't in Key West. You need to visit the Hogfish as well as their food is great, reasonable & the locals are always there.

Just wanted you to know as you said Key West, not Stock Island.

Hey Winch, the best happy hour is at Alonzo's located under the A&B Lobster House, all their appetizers are half priced as well as all their drinks, we know cause I drink Crown Royal which is never offered at any happy hour.

Meteor is a great place for BBQ & while your there, go right to the Green Parrot for a couple of drinks, one of the oldest bars in town plus locals with good music. Try breakfast at Harpoon Harry's on Caroline, just down the street from Pepe's Café which is a great place for all three meals & BO's Fish Wagon. Harry's is very reasonable in price, large portions & the staff is great, ask for there special as its not on the menu. You need to go to Schooner Wharf Bar down by the Bight which is one street back from Caroline. Great music, locals sit at the bar & good prices for drinks, we know we are there all the time. Have fun!!!!

Everything is within walking distance of the Banyon Tree. The downtown is big. The streets coming off of Duvall also have lots of wonderful restaurants. :D

We love this place and plan to return. We stayed at the Hyatt Beach House and love it here. From here we need to drive and park. So we went to the bank to get a couple rolls of quarters. Then we can feed the meters at the rate of a quarter for 10 minutes.

We generally eat at moderately priced places when we are in Key West.
We like El Siboney. Also Salsa Loco (I think that is the name) on Duval.
On New Year's, Little Toni's daughter opened a small Cuban cafe on Duval and Truman I think - we haven't been there yet. And we love Santiaga's Bodega.
Wish we were there right now!

I loved every place we ate while there in 2007.
Try the places at the marina, they were the best. Conch Republic, Turtle Crawls, Alonzo's, others I can't remember the names of. All on the marina at the end of Front Street. Wish I was there with you.

The neighborhood looks a little iffy, but I'd highly recommend Santiago's Bogeda (I think on the same street as Blue Heaven, but a block further down). It's tapas style, so you place multiple orders of smaller items. I think it's our new favorite restaurant after Blue Heaven.

Try Sarabeth's - its on Simonton Street @ Southard. When it comes to food in KW, we break our rule of never eating in the same place twice - Sarabeth's food and service are excellent - David (owner) could not be a better host.

Today we ate at Meteor Smokehouse since we heard so many recommendations as a reasonable place with good food. We ate in the outdoor part and really enjoyed our meal.

The resort recommended Abbondanza Italian Restaurant when we asked for Italian food. It was good, reasonably priced with HUGE portions.

Tomorrow we will try one of the other recommended restaurants from Tuggers. Thanks everyone. :whoopie:

I'd recommend Sarabeth's as well. I've had both lunch and dinner there, and both were good.

Gotta go where you feel you have to go twice when you are here. Our last meal out is at Sarabeth's. Guess we will continue to use the other places when we return next winter.

Gotta love the temp difference vacationing here. 25 below plus windchill at home while we have been in the 80's and now 70's here. :hysterical:

Not sure when you are leaving KW or planning on going to Sarabeth's - but since Sarabeth's is not open 7 days a week, check to make sure they're open when you planned on going. We found out the hard way - were going to stop by for some apricot bread pudding on our last day in KW, only to find out they were closed.

Combination of needing more bread pudding and warm weather has us scheduled for a return trip to KW!

I agree Abbondonza had good food, big portions (to go box for lunch next day) and gave a coupon for free Key Lime pie with dinner.
For a good breakfast treat, three Friends ptio Restaurnat on Front street Belgian waffle with pecans, pecan praline syrup and strawberries, plus they have a coupon too for free beverage including pina colada or key lime pie.
alonzo's has not only appetizers half price, but everything on the page. A side of fries was 88 cents and would feed 4. onion rings really good, plus you can get vessies, etc, all athalf price.
