All visitors to Kauai,
One of the Kauai Beach Villas IOA board members put this together from information available on the web.
For those planning to travel to Kauai in May, please be advised that on Saturday, April 25 Governor Ige extended both the "stay at home" requirements and the 14 day quarantine until the end of May. He also announced stricter monitoring of arriving passengers (both visitors and residents) to Hawaii.
What that means is that if you come to Kauai (or anywhere in the state of Hawaii) you are required by law to stay in your rental condo or hotel for 14 days from the date of arrival. This includes NOT going grocery shopping. All food must be delivered to you. You may NOT use hotel or condo facilitates such as pools or even walk the property. You MUST stay in your condo or hotel room. Failing to do so is punishable by arrest, fines of up to $5,000 or even jail time. The Kauai Police Department has written citations and made arrests.
Even if you plan on staying more than 14 days and are willing to endure the quarantine, please understand that restaurants are only open for take out or delivery. You may swim or exercise on state or county beaches but you may not sit on the beach. Here is information about county beaches copied for the County of Kauai website:
Effective March 23, 2020, non-Hawaii residents will be required to obtain a day-use permit for any County beach park. A park permit fee of $50 per vehicle and $5 per person (regardless of age) shall be assessed. No more than 100 day-use permits will be issued for County beach parks island wide.
State parks are closed and so are some hiking trails. This includes Ke'e Beach Park and Waimea Canyon Park.
With the stay at home order, many nonessential businesses are also closed.
When things begin to reopen on Kauai it will be a gradual process.
Kauai has had NO new cases of COVID-19 for two weeks. Only one of the 21 cases was due to community spread. There is only 1 active case.
“Kauai is on vacation. Please stay home.”
