There are several vendors on Kauai offering this activity. I have tried Captain Andy's and Blue Dolphin Charters with very nice results. I also believe that HoloHolo Charters (I think that's the spelling) appeared pretty good but didn't take them.

As to discounts... I have used: http://www.hawaiidiscount.com/ with good results and the prices offered here are without any conditions...

There is also: http://www.tombarefootshawaiitoursactivities.com/index.php which I haven't tried but heard good things as well.

The best discount we've found is the HoloHolo charters discount in the Entertainment book. The sail out of Port Allen.

You get 25% off for up to 4 people. Note that the 2008 book expires Nov. 1 - after that you use the 2009 book.

One thing to take into consideration is where you are staying. Almost all boats leave out of Port Allen, or Hanalei, so they aren't close to the timeshares on the east coast in the Kapa'a/Lihue area. Especially if you go on a cocktail cruise, consider whether you really want to make a long drive back to your TS in the dark, after having a few drinks. We really enjoy sunset cruises, but we didn't do one on Kauai this summer, because of that. From our TS located between Kapa'a and Lihue, to Port Allen, it's about a 50 min. drive - MAP

Sunset Cruises

We are big Capt. Andy fans. We use them at least once and sometimes twice during our two week stay.:D The sunset cruises we have gone on leave from the small boat harbor by Spouting Horn. I don't know if that has changed.

Denise is right, where you are staying makes a big difference. Some of the sunset cruises are coupled with a late afternoon up the NaPali and those do leave from Pt. Allen.

The other thing to consider is: When are you going to be on Kauai. We do have to deal with the Earth and is relative position to the sun. We were there in the summer one time and the sun set on "the other side" of Kauai.

As far as who you choose, we have done Holo Holo and Blue Dolphin and both were good. Some of it is "same church, different pew."

The reason we are biased toward Capt. Andy's is that one one trip we ran into squalls. The Captain tried to outrun them and then tried to get through them, but nothing worked. The seas were rough and we had no choice but to turn back to port. However, on the way back, the Captain opened the bar, brought out the food, and gave us our money back!!!!!! We are a Capt. Andy customer for life!:cheer:

Cheers,

Paul
