We are back to Poipu in 6 weeks. A couple of questions please for those who have been to Kauai recently;
1. Sterling reported on the flooding that happened while he was there a few weeks ago. Is the mountain road open all the way to the Pu'u o Kila Lookout (the start of the PiheaTrail)?
2. I understand that Polihale State Park was closed because of flooding and the locals are not happy. Any new news?
3. Is Hamura's Saimin Stand still the same old Hamura's? Hope so!
4. Does the Moloa'a Fruit Stand still make real Smoothies... no ice, just frozen fruit chunks and juice?
5. Does the Shrimp Station still serve the best coconut shrimp on the island?
6. Some time ago there was a discussion about hiking trails and the fact that the Kalalau Trail always seems to show up on "World's Top 10 Trails" lists. Someone wrote a note that they thought the Kalalau was overrated and their favorite trail on Kauai was ???????? I believe it is off the road leading up to the arboretum toward the Powerline Trailhead. Was it the Kuilua Ridge Trail? I plan to do the Pihea/Alikai swamp trails to Kilohana Point but I'd like to find out about some other trails outside of Koke'e Park.
