I would guess the issue is the weather. We are in Maui right now and have been receiving weather alerts since we landed yesterday. The driving was at times treacherous today on the lower part of Haleakala around the 3000 foot elevation area. Almost turned back driving to the Tedeschi Winery as there was flooding on highway 37 and extremely poor visibility with the rain and being in the clouds. Same weather expected tomorrow then improving Wednesday. Not bad in Kehei, just some light rain, but other areas are getting a lot.
