Kahului hotels

We are wanting to fly in to Kahului Airport next year on a Thursday before checking in to WKOR-N on Friday. We would like to just stay at a hotel close to the airport that first night. I am sure that the Courtyard would be nice, but it is also a bit pricey. Does anyone know from experience which of the airport area hotels would be good (or bad) to stay in?

Thank you!

I don't have any first hand knowledge of any of the hotels close to the airport but many of them look kind of run down. Are you getting in late and that is why you don't want to drive up closer to your timeshare?

If you don't get any input I'd suggest checking trip advisor.

I stayed at the Courtyard my first and last nights in fall 2014 because I had a free night cert and gift card. I snagged a great price for the paid night; even the desk clerk was amazed at it. I don't remember how much it was, but keep checking since the price fluctuates. It's a great location if you arrive at night; and since it offers a free airport shuttle, you can save a day's car rental.

Based on online reviews, the Courtyard, which is newish, is heads and shoulders above the other hotels near the airport, which are old.

I don't know if it's available on Priceline, but that's where I'd start.

Thank you all! We just find that after we fly in at 4:30 or so, and run by Costco, we are exhausted, hungry, crabby, and sleepy. Thinking it might be better for all if we just checked in close by, got some sleep, then do our Costco run the next morning.

Another vote for the Courtyard - and guess what, they can store your Costco food purchases overnight!!! (My philosophy - it never hurts to ask - worked great for that one).
The alternatives are vbro or airbnb, but many on Maui don't accept reservations for a single night.

I stay at the Courtyard too, if I get in ahead of my check-in day. If the flight arrives late, Costco might not be open, and it is a pain to have to drive back the following day. Also, sometimes frequent flyer flights don't line up with the timeshare stay, so it is easier to just stay in Kahului if you arrive a day prior.

Another area you could consider is Wailea. It is not as far as Ka'anapali and more convenient if you have to go back to Kahului the following day for a Costco run.

From first-hand experience last month, do NOT stay at any of the other hotels, even briefly.Since we were arriving late (10PM) and it was only one night , I tried one of the others. BIG mistake. The reviews weren't horrible , but the hotel was. Just do the Courtyard!

The Inn at Mama's Fish House. It is pricey unless you share with another couple in a 2br perhaps. We did it once when we could only get our frequent flyer airfare a day before our our timeshare check-in. It was fabulous!!

But not all that close to airport. If the intent is to stay someplace near the airport so you can stop at Costco the next morning, this would be a bit out of the way.

Also, in doing a very quick check on the Inn's website, a two bedroom cottage can run $350/night (there are some there that are $850/night). A room at the Courtyard (and this was through their website) for the same night is $289.00.
