A friend of ours is going to be staying at a 2 BR resort here. To have an ocean view, what building or unit should he ask for? It is an exchange so would he have any chance and should he call the resort a few days before his arrival? TIA.

Should this question be asked here or in the exchange forum? We hardly ever exchange.

Emmy, Kahana Falls would have very few units with an ocean view because right in front of the Kahana Falls buildings there are two resorts, Sands of Kahana and Kahana Beach Villas, which block any hope of an ocean view. I know that some units get a peek of the ocean because Rick and I walked around the resort to see what the views were like.

I think it would be very difficult to get an ocean view, but if the resort assigns the unit on the RCI (or other exchange company) confirmation, there is a chance that unit will have a peek.

Kahana Villas next door to that resort has decent views from all of the top floor two bedrooms. We were very impressed and pleased with our views two years ago.

Thank you Cindy. Is it a nice resort with a great beach close by? I thought there was an ocean view but I noticed now that I was confused with the Sands of Kahana as I read once by PerryM that it had a superb ocean view. I get confused with some of these resorts because of the similar names and I have never seen any of them.

What condo numbers or building should they ask for and is it even possible for an exchange?

The 2 bedroom units are in either of the 2 buildings,

The Aloha faces the check in area and the pool complex, the Falls faces towards the ocean, if you can get 5th floor or above in the Falls you may have a partial ocean view.
The resort has had some renovations in the last couple of years. The beach is across the street and around the Sands of Kahana.
The 2 bedrooms are not large, 957 sq ft, here is a link to the resorts site showing the suite layout, etc.

The sand bottomed hottub is great, the pools are nice. There were 6 gas grills the last time we were there. Parking is tight. Please do yourselves a favor and get a compact car, I don't think you could park a full size or jeep in the lot.

fwiw,

Greg

Two years ago I stayed at Kahana Falls (my first exchange). I called the resort and asked if I could request a view of the ocean. They said there wasn't a good view, but they would do what they could. It turns out that we were in an end unit and through the dining room window, I did see a bit of the ocean. They did as I requested. ;)

Thank you all. I am going to forward this thread to our friend. It will be their first time on the Islands. :D First Oahu and then Maui. They will have a great view from their hotel in Waikiki beach and once in Hawaii, I know they will be back again. ;)

I was on the 6th floor in the Falls building end unit on the mauka side. We had a lovely view of south Maui from our lanai.
