Hey all. It's been a while since I've been around here on Tug.

Does anyone know if ALL the units at Kahana Beach Resort in Maui open up to the Ocean on the back side? These are all hotel conversions I believe. Everythiing I've read suggests they all have ocean front balconies. Secondly, does anyone know if all the 1 bdrm units are higher up. The resort is mostly filled with studio units. I'm hoping all the 1 bdrm units are up higher.

We already have a week booked on the big island at the Wyndham Kona Hawaiian in Nov '12 and are trying to book an ocean front Maui for a second week. I have a Kahana Beach 1 bdrm on hold thru tonight. Would this be a good place? I know the units appear so, so. If we're assured of ocean front, then I think we'll take it.

Lastly, anyone know about the sister resort next door, the Sands of Kahana I think? Can you use the facilities there? It seems to have a nicer setting, pool, amenities, landscaping etc.

Thanks for all your help.

Kahana Beach is currently replacing all the old tiles in the units and working on either the 4th or 5th floor. Work will be stopped for 2 weeks during the holiday season then resume again until finished.

Each floor has 6 studios and 1 one bedroom unit with the one bedrooms located on the corner units facing the Sands of Kahana. Studios 1 & 2 on each floor have an oceanview but are not oceanfront. Request a room on the 6th floor or above for great views. Its easy to see the sea turtles swimming by in the morning. Room layouts are available on the website. The 1 bedrooms are huge and all face the ocean with wrap-around views being located on the corners of each floor.

Overflow parking for the Kahana Beach Resort is directed to park at the Sands of Kahana. You will be given a card at check-in that allows you to charge meals and drinks at the Sands of Kahana and placed on your room bill. We prefer the beach and swimming pool at Kahana becauce its less crowded.

We were there 2 weeks ago and always enjoy returning to the Kahana Beach because we purchased where we wanted to vacation each year.

Thanks Sailingman22, that's exactly what I needed to know. I think we'll go ahead and confirm it. It seems from your description and looking at the floor plans that the one bedrooms have a wraparound view of the ocean from the living room area with the kitchen looking that direction as well.

I'm getting excited already.

I see the blue covered loungers out on the main back patio. Do they rent those are they included? As narrow as the beach is, they look like they might be a pretty desirable way to spend some time.
