We are supposed to arrive for a week on February 19, but are wondering whether we should go. Does everyone wear masks everywhere, including outside while walking, at the pool, etc? Are most restaurants open? Are the stores at Whalers Village open? If you’ve been elsewhere on Maui, what were your experiences? Basically, will the trip, once we‘ve arrived, feel relaxing? Or should we just say goodbye to our points and chalk it up to bad luck in a pandemic...
Obviously only we can make that decision, but very interested to hear the recent experiences of other owners. Thanks

I was there for a month in October. I had a wonderful time. To me it would depend on where you are flying from and difficulty of getting Covid tested.

We are here now and it is fabulous. We feel very safe. Most people are quite good about masks. Restraunts are at 30% with lots of outdoor seating. Some things are closed or have limited hrs such as lavender farm, winery . Boats are at 50%. We can get a chair at the pool any time of day. We are so glad we didn't cancel

I went the week after Thanksgiving. I had a great time. United enforced masks on the flight, and restaurants / events was also pretty strict. It's extraordinarily easy to insist on outdoor seating at almost any restaurant. My only complaint was Roy's at the golf course - fully indoor, no masks. We walked out and went to Whaler's Village instead.

I do recommend getting reservations early - most restaurants are operating their patios only, so capacity is down. Mama's Fish House needs reservations almost 30 days in advance (so book now!). And about 20% of Whaler's village shops have gone out of business, which is kind of sad. But the rest are open, masked up, and ready to welcome you in.

But I loved it and would recommend you go.
