Just Received An Odd Pre-Approved Loan Offer From Wyndham

Did anyone else get a letter from Wyndham for a pre-approved loan of "no less than $50,000" for a loan to purchase a vacation interest......... blah, blah, blah, ad infinitum, ad nauseum ?

Their latest tactic - casting a wide net to the unsuspecting ?

I opted to opt-out of these types of notices. I was unaware that I had ever "opted in".

I am contemplating writing something scathing and faxing it back.

Yep, I got one too. We did a sales-presentation-masked-as-an-owner-update a few weeks ago, but never gave our SSNs nor consent for a credit check.

We only own resale points thru Wyndham.

Interesting. I did not attend a presentation. Hmmmm.

Both my wife and I have each received those types of letters from Wyndham on several occasions...

I recently receive a letter, and have received them at least annually for the past 2 or 3 years.

Ditto, and never have attended an "update".

This is no different than the offeres for credit cards I get on a regular basis or the notice of a special sale at a local car dealership

The walk from my mailbox back to the house is through the garage. I have a trash can in there and that's where I love sort my mail. A lot of it doesn't come into the house

I don't see the big deal

I used to get those every couple months. I put something on my credit report that stops the credit agencies from giving out information. You can set that up online for free for 5 years or do what I did which is send in a form that works for your lifetime. In my case, I had offers from credit cards and other places coming to me in the mail every day. Now, I get none.

I've gotten those, too - the humorous thing is the criminally high finance rate. As I recall it was like 18%!

Hi-
Can you share a link to how you can setup the online blocks to stop the credit card offers. We get these way too often also.

Thanx!

Never mind I did a google search and found it. Here's the info if anyone else wants it:

You are given two choices in regards to opting out of pre-approved and pre-screened credit card offers: either opt out of them for five years, or opt out of them permanently. To Opt Out for Five Years: You can either call the number 1-888-5-OPT-OUT (1-888-567-8688) or visit OptOutPrescreen.com

I posted this as it is the very first time I have received a timeshare-related offer of a "pre-approved" loan.

I had to look twice when I saw it was from Wyndham even though it's hard to miss their name. Now that's a new one for me.

Like you, I get the credit card offers as well. Glad I have the big shredder.

Thanks for your input.

My 83 year old Dad tells me if they are nice enough to send you one of those postage prepaid return envelopes you are obligated to stuff if full of as much junk mail as you can get into it and send it back.

When I got the first letter I wondered about the "catch" - then saw the $50,000 minimum and huge interest rate! Into the shredder it went.
