Just deposited for 1st time with II

We've only used RCI before, but I have just deposited my week with II.

I had to deposit it and not exchange it directly, because its our 2009 week we wont be using til 2011. So I knew I had to deposit it to get trading power ... right?

What week of 2009? Generally your trade power with II will be best if you deposit 10-12 months out. They'll punish your week's trade power if the check-in date is fast approaching.

My week is July. I should have deposited sooner I know ... hopefully it wont be too bad?

I am still relatively new at this....

I deposited for the first time back in July'08; my deposit was 11 months out. The sightings/distressed posts are very helpful in determining how your unit trades. I used those posts(there are very dedicated, regular posters to that thread) to compare what my resort "saw" for available trades. It was very informative.

If you know you want to visit somewhere specific, then put in an exchange request. You will have to pay the fee at that time to solidify the request. You can also modify that request online later on, or through a phone call to II.

Read through the exchange threads on this forum; there are excellent ideas/ thoughts shared to help you get success in procuring that vacation!

Trading power with II only varies slightly if at all when deposited 6 months out versus 10-12 months out.

No such thing :hysterical:, the developers who sell all those RED weeks that aren't really RED wouldn't stand for it.

Its the trading power thats most confusing. So far, we've gotten trades that Im happy with. So I cant complain too much!
