Hello everyone,
We just bought our first timeshare! Please let me know if I paid too much, my wife thinks I did. I bought Westgate PH one bedroom grand with a full kitchen. The useage is annual floating week 1-50. I bought on ebay for $2,027. All fees (closing, transfer, 2012 maintenance, etc) are paid by charity. First use is in 2013 and the maintenance fees are 795 annually. Please give us some feedback good or bad, as we are still learning. Thanks!

You could probably get one of these for less, and Westgate is not really well thought of hereabouts. Not the property per-se, but Wastegate. If you feel good about it, enjoy it. You offered more than 33 other people, and that says something for it. Many timeshares get no bids and go for $1. $800 a year is not bad MF. Too bad you don't get use this year. By the time you get to use it, you'll pay over $2800. You can rent at Grandview just down the street for under $300 a week.

Las Vegas is horribly overbuilt with TSs. No need to own there at all. If you can turn down your impulsive purchase, do it. Imo, your wife is wise.

Just my $.02

I'm not positive that the Westgate PH tower is not the same building that has been bought by Hilton and will be changed to that brand at additional cost to the Westgate owners. Here's a thread on this subject. I think the applicable part starts about post 22: http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=164285

Good luck

Thanks for the reply. You have the same points as my wife. But I chose this TS because it is in a great location, a state of the art building, connected to a casino, and was just bought by Hilton. So I guess I have to ask myself if this is worth 2-3K...

If it ends up shaking out that you can convert to Hilton points then it will have been a good deal, I believe. Doesn't look like that'll be happening soon, though.

If you love the resort and plan on using, that was a good deal. If you are unsure if you will use it, then you paid too much.
