Boy have I got a lot to learn!!! I have read enough to know that I am happy with my purchase, but am going to be studying up on the ins and outs of how to use this system.

I have owned a Marriott Grande Vista lockout for about 2 years now and have been working on reserving, trading, locking off etc and trying to make the most of it. Now I am reading tons of posts about Wyndham and have a couple of questions.

1. Is it really as straight forward as making reservations based on the point charts and when they're gone they're gone? Are there tricks of the trade like there are when you are trading through II or RCI?

2. Can you pool credits to rent a larger unit every other year or do you need to use them up each year?

3. If the points I have are Fairshare Plus, is there any need to know about the converting etc. that is often discussed?

Those are a few of the questions I have, but am too lazy to research right now so if anyone feels so inclined, I'd love your input.

Thanks, and I look forward to participating in your conversations!

Yes, the only other trick is looking for people that cancel the reservation at last min. There is no penalty until 15 days. And there may have some upgrade situation happen at 60 adys, 45 day, 30 days if there is bigger unit left but you are looking for small unit. Your guess is as good as mine

2. Can you pool credits to rent not rent reserve a larger unit every other year or do you need to use them up each year?
You can, it is good for 3 years from the day you put them if there is points for the year you want to make reservation. The pool point can not be used for ARP period.

3. If the points I have are Fairshare Plus, is there any need to know about the converting etc. that is often discussed?
That is for week, you have point already

Jya-Ning - - Doesn't Wyndham require for points pool, that the deposit be made before the year begins? I thought that once the year begins, the only way to keep points from disappearing on the last day of the year is to deposit them into RCI Weeks.

In general what you way is true. However, some VIP levels have an ability to deposit into the Credit Pool during their Use Year.

The OP bought thru Ebay so he won't be VIP thus the points will need to be deposited before the use year begins. My use year runs from Oct. thru Sept., so I regularly deposit on Sept. 30th every year. I just like the option of having those points for three years vs. the original one plus it's a big help when pooling points for a use bigger than your yearly allocation.

BTW, great deal on the purchase. I thought I had gotten a good deal for the same amount of points at $1,400.

Could be wrong. I don't see OP asking for pooling current use year point. So when I reply, I don't have intention for that. I read it as more like a generic question. I see it is more intended to get a bigger unit type of question.

If OP asking what to do with the existing point, or 2008 point, than yes, I believe most replies will say you can not pooling it, it is too later ... and possible option may say rent it out, deposit it to exchange company.:p

Thank you to everyone for your help!!

I was asking about "pooling" in a general way. For example, 154000 points is enough points for a 1 bedroom in the summer. can't remember how much a 2 bedroom would be exactly, but it is more than that. Can I keep my points until the next installment of 154,000 pts? That way I could reserve a 2 bedroom for a week at Seawatch and use the rest for a couple of days in WI Dells or something.

Again, thanks to everyone.

Also, I'm glad to hear some of you say you thought I got a good deal:clap: It was my first shot ever at e-bay and I was unreasonably proud of myself. Not because of a good deal, just for doing it at all:rofl:

for summer seawatch, you will almost certainly need to own there and ARP the size unit that you have the points for. there will not be summer weeks left to use pooled points when that window opens up (you cannot pool in ARP)

Sorry, did not realize you try to get in SW at summer. At ARP time, you can only use the point allocate for that year. If that is your goal, you will need to buy more points deeded on that resort.

However, the last 3 years, I can see availability on OB at 10 month for summer. It is supposed to be all sold off now, so don't know what will happen this year.
