Has anyone heard anything about jury duty either being canceled or going along as usual in your area? It is pretty much wall to wall news here at home, alternating between local and cable, and I haven't heard anything about being called in to sit with 150 people while they decide if they can use you that day. This came up because someone leaving PT as I was arriving (no PT for me as soon as we hear about cases nearby in spite of the hand washing going in and out they've implemented), told the receptionist he was 72 with 3 heart operations and was trying to find out if they expected him to report next week. I suspect when he calls in over the weekend and following days that he will be told he is off the hook for the next day and to call in again, but it got me thinking that I'd heard nothing about jury duty on TV.

They teased the info for so long, of course I was distracted when they finally announced court closing. I thought I heard both two weeks and April 6th. At least they have that covered.

There was a decision from Idaho's Supreme Court today. Much has been postponed or continued, but juries seem to still be on. However it seems pretty easy to get off.

If you are 70 years of age or older, the California Rules of Court allow you to be excused due to a medical condition without a doctor’s note. You must inform the court that you are not able to serve.

If you're under 70, you have to have a doctor's note.

This is the latest from Alabama:

All in-person judicial proceedings and appearances in Alabama are suspended for the next 30 days, according to an order by the Alabama State Supreme Court.

The order applies to in-person proceedings in all state and local courts in Alabama: Circuit, district, juvenile, municipal probate and appellate courts.

The Ontario Superior Court of Justice on Thursday evening announced that it has deferred all new jury trials in the province until further notice. Current jury trials in progress will continue on at the discretion of the presiding judge. Anyone who has received a summons to attend for jury selection should ignore the notice if they have not already been selected for a jury.
