Good Morning! We are planning a summer visit to Lagunamar and wondering if anyone who has been there recently can provide a report on how things are at the resort, at La Isla restaurants, in hotel zone restaurants and stores and at the airport/shuttle services? Thanks!

In Cancun airport waiting to board our flight home after one week at Lagunamar. Things are definitely picking up. I believe they are not at 100% occupancy yet, but resort was busy. Oceana just reopened for breakfast while we were there. Resort restaurant menus were smaller. North Beach was mobbed yesterday, with many boats just offshore.

I spoke with the Concierge over this past weekend because we have a trip planned in July. She reported that the resort is at 60% capacity. All restaurants are open. Spa, mini golf and gym are also open. She noted that the rules are constantly changing (due to COVID numbers) so you should check immediately before your trip.

We are at Lagunamar now. The sargassum / sea weed situation is bad. I mean REALLY bad as I don’t see ANYONE on the beach going into the ocean and the color of the water at the entry of the ocean is brownish. See my attached photo.

Will someone please point me to a post that talks about the required covid test to re-enter the US, where to get it and how much it costs? I’ve searched everywhere, and all I’ve found so far is that it’s offered at the resort via vendors (no price given) and must be done within 3 days of returning to the US. Thanks in advance!

I was contacted by concierge a couple of weeks before our trip about scheduling our tests. They cost approx $30/person and were billed to our room. Testing was quick and easy: we met at the designated time at concierge desk, then escorted to a nearby unit for tests (nose swab). Results were printed out while we were there. Be sure to bring your passports.

Other than the bad timing of the seas, what was your overall opinion of the property?

The property was in great shape, very clean with COVID precautions in place. The staff does an excellent job. Other than the ocean situation, Lagunamar was the usual Lagunamar.

Do they still have the daily happy hour?
