It's 112º right now 5:00 pm, and my neighbors across the street are setting up for a party in their GARAGE, where it could easily be 120º. They have a beautiful 5 bdm. home with air conditioning, and a nicely landscaped back yard with a patio and lots of shade trees. I can't imagine what their guests will think!

Wow, way too hot for me. I would sit in the A/C and look out the window.

I just found out today my daughter accepted a job in California. The movers pick up her stuff on the 17th. She chose an apartment sight unseen but it looks nice. It's just outside Temecula. So we'll be stopping in California when we return to the mainland in Five years.😀

80 here right now at 2pm.🤙🏻

At 5:09pm in Salem Oregon it is only 90°F. We finally get a break after almost a week at 100°F+. It was hard to cool off the House when the night time lows were 66°F to 71°F.

That's Reno vicinity? The neighbors must've made plans they couldn't break. We have a shindig on the (Snake River) Canyon rim tomorrow. 102 is expected. The invite said, 'bring lawn chairs'. Are they NUTZ! We'll come for the indoors portion with A/C and canapes, then find a nice air conditioned restaurant for after.

We are back in Northern, CA, as of yesterday. It's usually aroung 10 degrees cooler in Reno, and it's 99º there right now.

A generous Tugger gifted us a timeshare at Timber's at Island Park - this will be our first trip.

@DeniseM , I have a trip planned in early September to Palm Springs, CA, and I'm expecting it to be very hot...

They set a record there this week of 124º. Honestly, I'd reconsider, because September is hot, hot, hot here in CA.

In June my son, DIL, and 3 Gkids moved from Chicago to Croton-on-Hudson. (Yes his office is now in Manhattan.) When we were 104 he was only 94. But my humidity was 27% and his was about 90%. I will take my 104 with only 27% humidity.

The party is all men - standing out on the driveway, beer in hand, where it is probably cooler. Either this is a guy party, or all the women went into the house. Maybe a bachelor parth?

Maybe the women told the guys, 'If you're gonna drink beer and tell THOSE stories, just go outside and do it! Git!

I was told 105 is dry heat in Vegas.
That is hot and IMHO, everyone needs to be inside with the AC on.

It's ALL a dry heat.

105 is average here this time of year. And yes - everyone is indoors with the A/C on.

Mesquite's temps for the next few days:

It's a great area for wineries. Hopefully she will live close to her work, the traffic can be really bad through there I-15 is a major thruway for Vegas to San Diego.

Earlier in my career I did some field work in the Mojave and in southern Nevada. +100 temps were the norm. I recall working in Laughlin (usually about five degrees warmer than Las Vegas) at 110.

I grew up in Minnesota, and went to college in Missouri. My last summer in Missouri was entirely field work. Though those temps were only low- to mid-90s, they were much more uncomfortable than my work in the desert.

In the desert I learned use lots of moisturizer and chapstick, and drink plenty of water. I set my watch to beep every two hours, and if I hadn't peed in the last two hours, I would immediately double my water intake. When I was in Las Vegas I filled my containers with Las Vegas tap water. Tasted terrible, but that's because of the amount of salts dissolved in the water. So the Las Vegas tap water also gave me plenty of electrolyte.

Yes, that's why she chose her apartment sight unseen. It's only a block from the main hospital she will have to go to. So she can walk if she wants. Sounds like one of the other hospitals is about a 15 minute drive.

They flew her in last week and she liked the area. She's not huge on Wine but she will have an occasional glass. Maybe that will change.😀
