Won’t be the last airline to require masks .

Once upon a time you could smoke on airplanes .
Maybe we will be saying :

“ remember when you did not have to wear a mask when you fly “

Air Canada requires masks as well. As advised by the health experts that said masks are not effective. FYI...I think it is a reasonable precaution. And that masks should be available at the gate if when entering the airport.

Richard, Thanks for sharing this article. Now, who are going to clean those dirty serving trays between flights??? Plus, all the airline industries needs to remove those dirty magazines from their bends compartments.

Actually it is not just Air Canada. It is a requirement by Transport Canada as of April 20th, that all aviation passengers arriving or departing from any Canadian airport on any airline must be able to show they have a cloth or non-medical mask. It must be used during the boarding and departure process, when proper physical distancing is not always possible, or at any other time that an airline may require a wearing of the mask.

Neither the airport nor the airline is required to provide the mask. It is the responsibility of the passenger, and without it they can be denied boarding. The mask could be something as simple as a scarf, which almost all Canadians possess.

The purpose is as much about protecting airline check-in and air crews as it is about the safety of other passengers. Several check-in and gate staff, flight attendants and pilots have contracted Covid-19 and this is intended to help protect them.
