Thanks for sharing this very important news article; especially to anyone who were staying at this timeshare resort in Hawaii; January 28 to February 3,2020 and to anyone flying on the same commercial airline with this person on February 7, 2020 to Japan.
This is a must read news article.IMO.
I pray that HGVC on Oahu have been contacted and the airline that the couple flew back home to Japan, have been notified.

I read that someone who is asymptomatic may still be contagious.
I also read that the virus may survive a period of time on surfaces.
Of course, I may be reading too much into that.
Still, I think it would be wise to sanitize one's hands & everything,
wherever an infected person may have been.
And I wouldn't book a cruise on the Diamond Princess for a while.

I hope the Carnival Corp take the Diamond Princess ship off line for a very deep cleaning from the top deck to the bottom deck, including all the balconies. Plus, an interior and exterior paint job. IMHO.

Keep in mind that those are mainly from cases in Hubei province (where Wuhan is located). If you take the cases outside of China there have only been 5 reported deaths out of 582 cases (<1%)
Medical care seems to be the big thing here. Wuhan doesn’t have the infrastructure to provide appropriate treatment. Even within China the more medically developed cities (Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen) seem to be dealing with this well and death rates are correspondingly lower.
To put in context - I’ve seen estimates that eventually 40-70% of the global population will get the virus (it is a matter of when - not if). If 2% of those who get the virus die then that could mean anywhere from 58 to over 100 million could die as a result.

I won't comment on the 40%-70% figure of how many people globally will get the virus. Hopefully the virus doesn't spread nearly that much. However, 100 years ago in 1918-1919 the worst flu pandemic occurred. The world population was only about 2.5 billion then and they estimate that 20-50 million people died. The death rate was worst than that of the Corona Virus; credit better disinfectants and antibiotics to treat any Pneumonia that may develop in patients. So while this virus is certainly bad and preventive actions need to be taken, it probably will not be the worst widespread virus that has ever spread thru the world.

We have a couple in Ontario that have recovered and still test positive for the virus. They were released from hospital two weeks ago but are still in home quarantine. Nobody knows what that means. Are they still contagious?
Nose and throat swabs taken since the man was released from Sunnybrook hospital two weeks ago continue to show traces of coronavirus in both him and his wife, who was never hospitalized.
The Japanese tourist that visited the HGVC resort have now come down with the coronavirus COV19, and is listed in critical condition. . Information Only.

I'm traveling there on March 6th. Originally we were going to stay at the Grand Waikikian, but we changed our reservation to the Grand Islander. I thought about moving our reservation to the Hokulani. Just playing it by ear right now.
