Thinking of going for Spring Break skiing next year, staying at the Jackson Hole Towncenter. Just starting the process. Curious to know how far is Jackson Hole, ways to get there if we don't rent a car. Other tips and thoughts about the area are appreciated. Concern arises about the closing date though. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

It was many, many years ago that I stayed at Jackson Hole Towncenter. Honestly I was not impressed.. My recollection is that it was adequate but not much more than a middle class motel but maybe things are better now. Maybe I am not talking about the right Resort. I traded in using my MROP Membership...

JTC is a remodeled motel. Calling it a 'resort' is charitable at best. Some of the units have strange layouts. Once there, there is a ski hill a few blocks away- but that's not Grand Targee! One could get along without a rental car, but I think one would get tired of the few eateries within walking distance. You can fly directly into Jackson, but I think just from SLC. Most drive there- It's about 4 hours drive from SLC or 2 from Idaho Falls.

Jackson Hole skiing is world class, but JTC is not. If it was me and I was planning a ski trip from New Jersey, I'd set my sights on Park City, UT rather than downtown Jackson.

And you also have the option of doing a snow coach into Old Faithful. Yellowstone in winter is pretty amazing. No downhill but there is cross country and snowshoeing.

I have stayed at Jackson Towncenter and J. Pines (same management). Yes, they are converted motels. They are clean, and very convenient. (I even did Christmas dinner for 14 people in the unit! Staff was always extremely friendly and helpful. Townbus will get you to JH skiing. Lots of restaurants in walking distance and a lovely townsquare area. Is it a "resort" no - if you are there to sightsee and ski, it is fine. Want activities planned for you? Upscale accomodations? Then not the place.

Teton Village doesn't have much in the way of timeshares (and good luck getting into them)
