Lee Child is handing over the writing of the Jack Reacher novels to his younger brother, Child considered killing Reacher off, but decided that he and his brother will co-write the next few novels and then his brother will take over the series. Child is 65 and his brother is 51.

The end of an era. I’ve noticed this pattern with famous authors where they are giving license for others to write under their names - James Patterson, Tom Clancy, etc. IMHO the newer authors are never quite the same and the books and characters lose something in the process.

I’m a big Jack Reacher fan and a big Lee Child fan - I’ve read all of his books.

My DW has read all of the Reacher books and I read the two that were made into the movies. She will be glad to hear that they are going to continue writing and hopefully the quality will be the same.

We have enjoyed the Reacher movies staring Tom Cruise. My DW recently learned that Reacher fans complained that Cruise is too short to properly portray Reacher, so the decision was made to not make any additional movies. Instead, they are suppose to come out with a Reacher TV series. Not sure who will play Reacher. Personally, we are disappointed as we love Cruise in that role.

Just told my husband who is a die-hard Lee Child fan. It's never the same when someone takes over writing a series. But I guess the brother couldn't resist cashing in.

I always felt Cruise was horribly cast in the Reacher role. Reacher is a huge guy, 6 1/2 feet fall 250lbs all muscle mesomorph type. Us die hard Reacher fans cannot support this travesty.

have read all the reacher books save the most recent one....certainly a unique series and ill likely at least try one or two of the brothers attempts at continuing the line!

but yea, as said above...im not sure of any extremely popular series of books that was ever anywhere near as good as the original with a new author at the helm.
