Is Wyndham still making Bulk Deposits into RCI?

I'm looking at Hawaii deposits mainly. A few years ago you could depend on seeing bulk deposits ~9 months out. Doesn't seem to be true anymore. Has this era ended or is it hit-or-miss?

Happy New Years

I used to watch the deposits of available units in Hawaii. After seeing patterns that would appear and then vanish, I began to ask Wyndham about availability dumping.

The best answer that I got was that the availability dumps were not determined or controlled by Wyndham, but instead by the individual resort's HOA. The determination could vary from year to year, board to board, and even between and within resorts.

Now, I see less and less dumping at all. I attribute this to the fact that more recently, current resort owners are actually reserving the times and that there are fewer left for non-owners. I see this most with Presidential Reserve units.

For resorts that are all (or mostly) in the Wyndham points product (Club Wyndham), that's not true. Wyndham deposits its Club inventory between 7-8 months prior to use. I don't know the provenance of the HI properties, but if they are older, there may be significant inventory that was never converted from fixed-week or floating-week to points, and so not covered by this pattern.

I suspect this is true. Owners can book any resort at 10 months, and the more popular resorts/seasons are gone by the time the RCI deposit happens. As travel continues to recover, and fewer owners are letting points spoil or deferring use by depositing to RCI, Wyndham deposits to RCI will go down. We see this in other systems as well.

OP: it is also possible that there are more people with ongoing searches in place for the islands/times you are looking at. Remember, what you see in the space bank is only the leftovers after OGSes are satisfied.

A few years ago I was tracking the deposits of Hawaiian PAHIO Presidential Reserve units. Every day a deposit was made for 6 months in the future. There always were non-Presidential Reserve units available at the 10 month timeline, but not Presidential Reserve units. This went on for months up until 6 months and 1 week before I wanted to make my reservation. Then the Presidential Reserve deposits stopped, much to my disappointment. When I inquired, I was told that Wyndham does not control the deposits of Presidential Reserve units, but that the HOA does.

I also watch the Hawaiian Outrigger resorts, especially in Maui. I have seen nothing deposited in 2015 for 2016. Once again, Wyndham has told me that the Outrigger deposits are not control by Wyndham, but by Outrigger.

Now, I will grant you that I have been looking at the Wyndham points site and not RCI. But, if the units are not showing on the Wyndham site, I don't think that they would be deposited into RCI instead of the Wyndham site.

I suspect that was to get you off the phone. There is no way that the Mothership is allowing individual resorts to control PR inventory availability given it's place in the Sales pantheon.

Outrigger might be true: that's a crossover product, AFAIK.

The resort I'm trying to exchange into is the Wyndham Kona Hawaiian Resort. It is an older resort that was folded into Wyndham XX yrs ago. There are NO weeks available for 2016 exchanges on RCI. None!

I started an Ongoing search yesterday so we'll see what happens. If RCI lets me down for a 2016/2017 winter week I'll give TPI all my deposits in the future. They at least show SOME Wyndham Kona Hawaiian Res. weeks. RCI always seems to have a few weeks for rent. :(

Thanks for the feedback guys. It does look bleak. Less than 250 weeks are available right now in Hawaii. Remember the days when you'd see 700-800 Hawaii weeks available. Those where the days.

On RCI they have 22 as $2000+ rentals only and that is January through July. They aren't even putting ones that are less than 2 weeks out into the exchange pool at that resort.

Checked RCI today and Wyndham deposited 3 August weeks at KHR and 5 July/August weeks at Royal Sea Cliff. :) That's encouraging. They may have dep. more wks and they were already grabbed by On Going searches.
