I was wondering how legitimate the company TSRSonline.com was. Has anyone heard of them or been contacted by them as I have. The name of the company is Timeshare Resource Services out of El Cajon, California.
Please advise me if you have more knowledge of this company than I do.
Thanks

There is a simple rule of thumb for dealing with timeshare business offers:

Any company that charges you a large upfront fee of any kind to sell or rent your timeshare, or to get your money back from another company, makes their money from the upfront fee - they have NO intention of providing any services to you. You might as well flush your money down the toilet!

They make their money with the upfront fee and then they make no attempt to sell/rent your timeshare, or to get your money back. They ALREADY have your money - why should they!

Legitimate businesses charge a commission after the service, but these companies all ask for a large upfront payment.

Here are some warnings signs with these kinds of companies:

1) Did you get an unsolicited sales call or mailing or email from them?

2) Do they say that they already have a renter/buyer for your timeshare? (Or an established market like people attending conventions.)

3) Do they claim that they can get your money back from another scammer?

4) Do they want you to pay hundreds/thousands of dollars for a title search, or transfer fees, or taxes, or a closing fee, or appraisal, or ANY large fee, UPFRONT?

5) Are they offering to rent/sell it for far more than the market value?

6) Do they want you to pay a large up front fee that supposedly you will get back?

7) Do they want your credit card number over the phone?

If you answer yes to any of these questions, then this is the usual scenario:

Once you pay the fee and receive the contract, you discover that the company has only promised to advertise your resort, not to rent/sell it, and they don't mention having a renter/buyer in the contract.

Then, you won't hear anything from them for a long time, and when you contact them, they will tell you that the renter/buyer backed out, but they will advertise your timeshare on their over-priced website.

Finally, when you try to get your money back, they will point out that you signed a contract, and it's only for advertising.

When you try to challenge it with your credit card company, they will tell you that you only had 60 days to dispute the charge, and that it's too late to do anything.

This is a bitter pill to swallow, but right now, most timeshares are selling for 0-20% of the original retail price. It's not a good time to sell a timeshare.

To see what your timeshare is really worth on the current resale market:

1) Register with ebay
2) Sign in
3) Search for your resort by exact name
4) From the menu on the left click "completed listings"
5) The next page will show you current selling prices

(Be sure you look at the completed listings - those are actually SELLING prices - you will find asking prices all over the place, but what really counts is what they actually sold for.)

Info on a company Timeshare Guidance

I was sent a flyer in the mail, similar to all of the other ones that I receive monthly. I decided to meet with them, a learning process in knowing your enemy. Their punch line is "Want out of your annual maintenance fees?" "We can help" What is their angle, do they want you to just sign it over and give it to them. Are they legitimate? Will the resort come back at you for unpaid maintenance fees. Please let me know, Thanks

They want you to pay them several thousand dollars to "take your TS off your hands."

These companies are all the same, whether they send you a postcard, or cold-call you - different name, same old story. There is no magic remedy, but there are lots of opportunities to get ripped off!

Denise, you seem to be well versed in the timeshare world, have you ever heard of the company Timeshare Resource Services, TSRSonline.com.
No one else has commented, I was hoping to learn more about them, I think that they are scammers. Is there anyway to turn these companies in to the authorities?
Thanks for your info.

There is a simple way to tell - the scammers all charge a large upfront fee. Reputable brokers charge a commission out of the proceeds - after the sale.

You can report them to the attorney general in their state.

Add to Denise's comprehensive answers that if the company contacts you there is an extremely high probability that they are after a large upfront fee and little else. Don't even try to deal with them.

Nobody here is going to have dealt with any of these

Postcard companies as a seller.
Why?
Because we all know that they only want your $2295-$4995 up front to get rid of your timeshare.

If you have a unit you want to get rid of list it here on the bargain board.

fwiw,
Greg

Save time - Hang UP!

Timeshare resource Services are a SCAM and you should avoid them atall costs. They are just another shady fly by night company that wants your money in exchange for "marketing" your property. It's the same unprofessional high pressure pitch as the rest of these con artists who have no intention of doing any work after you pay them. I recieved a call from some girl calling herself Adela. She quickly got to the part about paying her a fee but could not answer any questions. When I told her that I needed to know the answers to my questions she became defensive then verbally abusive and hung up. I called back to complain about the verbal abuse and asked for a supervisor. The girl who answered the phone - they both sounded like teenagers - named Candice claimed that she was a manager and then became equally confrontational and abusive. The sales reps are scripted robots calling from a boiler room to rip you off. If you see 1-866-855-2596 on your caller ID just hang up.

I went ahead and checked their website. What they are asking for a sales price is extremely high. This is a listing they have for Orange Lake. It is a 3 bedroom.

Resort Name Orange Lake Country Club
Resort City Kissimmee
Resort State FL
Resort Country USA
Rooms 3
Bathrooms 2
Maintenance Fees 800
Deed yes
Weeks Available 1
Lockout no
Points NA
Rent Price 2K to 2300
Sale Price 31500 to 45K

Right now on Ebay, there is a 2 bedroom for $1.00 as the opening bid and the sale ends in less than 24 hours.

Being that they are listing such high prices, I don't believe they will ever have any buyers. That means that this company must make their money not by selling. They would need to collect advertising money, etc from the seller in order to make any money since nobody in their right mind would ever pay the prices on their site.

Similar Experience - Trying to stop credit payment

Everything you have written has been my experience, and more the past 5 weeks. I authorized their charge to my Visa card, signed & returned the written contract, had lengthy telephone calls with two salesmen, Chris Johnson and Andy Kline, who hooked me in by saying I could call them anytime for a status update on the sale of my timeshare. Well, they took my calls until two weeks ago. Since then, I've gotten the scripted run-around from Stephanie in Florida, and Heather, Brianna, and Rocio (a supervisor) in California. In short, I've asked for my money back. They've all said they are a legitimate company, I signed the contract, etc. I could go on but suffice it to say, I'm starting with my Visa credit card company. They will suspend my payment ($1,499) for 30 days while they investigate. Meanwhile, I'll do my due diligence of continuing to ask for my money back, report them to the BBB, the CA Attorney General, and posting to this blog. I'm sure they read it. I will do whatever I can to blacken their name. Any words of wisdom?

As I was deceived by TSRSonline, so I now deceive others. Sorry, friends.

I continue to talk with Customer Service at TSRSonline in order to get through to my sales agents, Andy Kline and Chris Johnson., I have become extremely dissatisfied with TSRS's business practices now that my written contract is back in their hands (a period of time from 04/09/12, initial cold call, to 04/20/12, receipt of signed contract). Further, I believe TSRSonline has made me an unwitting accomplice to their scheme to “inflate” the value of timeshare sales on the resale market by counseling me to list my Summerbay timeshare for $23,000.

During sales pitches on April 9th and 10th, Chris & Andy both promised they would give me updates on presentations they said they would be making to prospective buyers of my Summerbay timeshare during the last two weekends of April, and going forward for the 10 months before I am offered the Broker Buy Back Guarantee.

I was very skeptical that my timeshare was worth $19,000 - $23,000, which they both said was the range in today's market. They used this range when I asked the hypothetical question, "What would the Broker's buy back offer be in February, 2013?" They said the mid-point between the high and the low of the above range, which is $21,000 (in today's market).

This still seemed too high, so I asked how the "market price" is determined. They directed me to "the Internet". The Internet that they directed me to, however, was their own TSRSonline site, not the worldwide web of resale Internet websites (like eBay). Andy verbally invited me to search the listings he sent me to “on the Internet”, where I did find the range used in the hypothetical ($19,000 - $23,000). This was an impressive inducement for me to enter into TSRS's written contract because the Buy Back provision would be my fallback position if the sales agents fail to find a buyer in 10 months. Andy, in fact, reassured me by saying, “Consider your timeshare sold [for $21,000] in 10 months if it doesn’t sell before then.”

After joining this User's Group earlier this week and becoming a little better educated about how to double-check representations made by timeshare sales people, I checked Summerbay timeshare sales and offers on eBay. I was aghast at all the $1.00 - $2.50 sales and zero offers!

So Friday I spoke with Customer Services representative "April" (no last names are given by this business now that they have my signed contract in their possession) and told her about my eBay discovery. I asked her, "Why would any prospective buyer offer to pay me $23,000 when they can go on eBay and purchase it for a dollar?" Also, if my timeshare doesn't sell by February, then I'm looking at a Broker's offer of $1.75!!!

Of course, April was trained to say, "No one knows what the timeshare market will be in the future."

When I asked April where I should research market values other than TSRS or eBay, she said, "Check the Internet or Summerbay directly for the market value of your timeshare." After sleeping on this last night, I now realize how I was deceived by the sales agents back on April 9th and 10th. Andy & Chris directed me to look at TSRS’s inflated listings – which are in the resale market -- while April mistakenly directed me to the timeshare direct market (Summerbay’s listings). Both are high market universes in which current and prospective clients are cleverly directed to search. I have now been on both ends of this deception.

For clarification,
Paragraph 3 D. of my TSRSonline contract states, in part, ". . . For the purpose of this buyback provision, market price/value means what a similar Timeshare most recently sold for or is currently selling for on the current RESALE market." (emphasis added)

Andy & Chris knew exactly the slip they were giving me back on April 9-10 because they knew the fine wording of the contract that I did not receive until 10 days later -- April 17th. This, too, is why now that I have signed the contract they do not want to talk to me when I call. April and the other “Customer Service” agents keep blocking my access.

I not only have been deceived about the value of my timeshare but now that my listing is on TSRSonline at such a high price, prospective clients like I was back on April 9-10 will see my listing and be induced into signing TSRS’s listing agreement like I did.

I personally like the "WE sue your timeshare company" with a link to a different website.

They have a Wyndham Skyline 154k EOY package for only $27,000. Tempting....:hysterical:

TSRSonline has an Online Business Bureau rating of "Excellent", which means no complaints. However, I filed a complaint, giving a detailed account of the false promises; the scripted customer service representatives with no last names (who have zero knowledge of the offer process); the misleading and even false information on finding resale values for the Broker buy back offer, etc.

My complaint was emailed to TSRSonline on May 24 at 9:44 pm and responded to by bob@tsrsonline.com the next morning at 11:11 am.

The response was in canned paragraphs that read like English as a second language.

Example: "Our files show that in the verbal contract Ms. [MY NAME] entered into, she agree to all the terms and conditions outlined. Shortly after entering into the recorded verification, she received the confirmation package in the mail where she was to review the contract. If there were any questions or changes to the contract, she was given our customer service number to call; she didn’t call rather decided to sign and return the contract with her acknowledgment of all terms and conditions."

If I understand the OBB rating scheme, all TSRSonline has to do to keep its rating is respond within 10 days. The response apparently doesn't have to add anything substantive. It doesn't have to address the specifics in my complaint. All it has to be is a timely, canned restatement of "she signed the contract -- we have the contract in our files."

I'm waiting to see what my Visa credit card service does about the charge, which is not yet due.:(

Here's the part that you need to know/believe:
It doesn't matter what the name of the company is. The are hundres of these companies, and they change their names constantly. They sign up a timeshare owner, receive several thousand dollars, then disappear. On to their next victim.
Trust us. We are not trying to sell you anything.

I was wondering how legitimate the company TSRSonline.com was. Has anyone heard of them or been contacted by them as I have. The name of the company is Timeshare Resource Services out of El Cajon, California.
Please advise me if you have more knowledge of this company than I do.
Thanks

I wonder whether any of these posters are willing to investigate a class action suit against TSRSOnline. We just got our offer for the buyback and it was $3.75 and for $950-ish dollars, they'll transfer title for us. It's a huge scam and I feel frustrated for getting sucked in. They did nothing to attempt to sell my timeshare and I'm very sure, especially after reading this forum, that I'm not the only one sucked in. I vote for a Class Action Suit!

In order to make a class action attractive to a law firm to run it, there has to be a large group of victims and the perpetrator has to have very deep pockets- like a drug maker or car builder. Timeshare scammers aren't going to attract anything except fleas. Cut your losses and give away what you have.

Sorry for the reality check.

Class action attorneys and personal injury attorneys that advertise on TV get paid out of settlement. So, they only take cases where there are deep pockets.

While you probably could personally probably get a default judgment against these scammers, there are no assets and probably cannot even find.

May not even be in USA!

Suck it up and move on! Experience is expensive.
