A timeshare resale company told me that if you sell your timeshare for $1, the resort can refuse to accept the sale. Is this true?

No.

But, some resorts have ROFR, they may buy out the timeshare for $1.

The resorts mainly want all the units in the hands of responsible fee-paying owners.

A timeshare stuck with too many orphan units on which nobody is paying fees can find itself going into a financial death spiral.

Regarding statements from the timeshare resale company, chances are that if the person's lips were moving the person was fibbing.

Which company told you this? As @echino says above, some of the higher level companies like HGVC will buy them back under ROFR. The only reason they do that is they believe they can sell it for a nice profit. Most companies/HOA’s want people paying their MF’s.

Some resorts have refused to enroll an LLC as an owner, but this has to do with the LLC form of ownership, not the purchase price.

You should never believe anything that a timeshare sales person tells you - you have to do your own research, and you came to the right place for that!

Another company also told me the same thing. That one was webuyandselltimeshares.com

This one referred me to sellmytimesharenow.com It seems possible that they are working together because they both said the same thing.

sellmytimesharenow.com (SMTN) is a company that charges a large fee for advertising timeshares on its website. Properties listed on it are generally grossly overpriced. It is definitely not in SMTN's interest for people to believe that the timeshares listed for sale for thousands of dollars on its website are available at much lower prices -- or free -- elsewhere.

They also force sellers to use them as the closing company.
