I agree with
@CPNY that you should fill out the "What to Buy" survey on this site. You will get a lot of excellent suggestions.
That being said I own a 1,000 point contract with the Villa Group. The one you're looking at may be different but here's how mine works: I have an annual maintenance fee. So it's not a Right To Use contract. It covers, as mentioned, May thru October. I can book a studio. I can also bank my weeks (up to 2 years of weeks) if I decide I can't use my week this year. I have done this due to the pandemic. The catch is that I can not combine last year's and this years weeks to get a larger unit. I can only book more weeks. I can also borrow from the back end of the contract as long as I pay the maintenance fee. It's also affiliated with Interval International. But, being only a studio, there's not a lot of buying power. There is one perk, however, that I truly like. When I pay my maintenance fee I automatically get annual travel insurance. And, for an additional $15, I get the premium version of that travel insurance. The premium version provides for emergency medical coverage and repatriation if necessary when visiting any Villa Group property. The basic coverage (trip interruption, lost luggage, etc.) kicks in whenever I travel more than 100 miles from my home.
Is what you're looking at a good buy? Nothing is a good buy if you can't/don't use it. You have to judge, based upon your travel needs, if a studio with low trade value and no upgrade option would work for you. For my wife & I it has. We have enjoyed their Cabo & Cancun resorts and are looking to go to their Puerto Vallarta location next year. In our case we purchased where we like to stay with a few options available.
