Is there an optimum time to find exchanges in RCI?

It's Saturday night and RCI is going down for updates, as it does every Saturday night. What happens during the update process? Does it change the dates for last-minute deals? Is there a greater inventory right after the updates? Is there a best time to look for new availability??? Any information will be appreciated.

No one knows for sure, but many of the old-timers here on TUG believe it is when they change out the squirrels running on wheels that power how the search function works on the back end.

Place on OGS for exactly what you want and when (and if) it matches is the optimum time what you wanted was available to you in the system. Mileage varies significantly on when deposits (bulk or otherwise) are made.

Lots of exchanges show up after maintenance fees are paid. I had a few timeshares that wouldn’t let me deposit until I paid my maintenance fees. Most have to be paid by first of the year. A few want payment in December.

When I log in early on a Sunday morning, sometimes I see greater inventory. As was stated above most deposits can't be made until maintenance fees are paid. For that reason, I've been successful checking every Sunday morning after the first of the year. I've also found that OGS are fine, (esp. when you're not home or can't check yourself), BUT DO CHECK YOURSELF WHEN YOU CAN. I had a search on one time that made a match but no one called, no e-mail either. If I hadn't checked, would've lost it! Always do both!!

If you have RCI Points, 10 months to the day is the best time to find really prime inventory, like Maui during spring break, Outer Banks in May-June, whatever you are hoping to get in RCI Points. The time to check is midnight Eastern.

As an old IT Guy I can tell you there's a few things that happen during weekly down time:

1. All computers need to be restarted occasionally. Memory management is never 100%. Restarting clears out the junk so memory is pristine after the restart.
2. Database indexes are reorganized for similar reasons.
3. Software updates large & small are installed.
4. Hardware upgrades are made and maintenance is performed.
5. Database backups are made so there is a "Known state" to restore to if there is a catastrophic loss that occurs.
