We'd like to give an exchange to a young friend as a graduation present. Is there an age restriction for guests?

Thank you.

Depends on the resort but for a few I know you must be 25 for obvious reasons. Royals Resorts in Cancun is one and I believe Marriott has the same rule.
What areas are you thinking of trading to?

No matter the age you are responsible for any damage your guest or their friends incur to the unit.

Hi!

One is the MC: we have a week there and are going only for the first four days. We'll have two twenty-year-olds with us and would like them to have the rest of the week.

The other is Smuggs, where we own, so I could just call them up if the rule varies according to the resort.

They'd better not damage anything!

I'll let Madge give you RCI offical policy, but many resorts require the guest at check-in to be the age of majority. So in the US, that 21. In Canada it is 19 and in Mexico it is 18. RCI offical policy may be different.

As far as damage, when anyone check-in, they give a credit card which should cover any problems (damage) but if the CC doesn't cover all the charges the resort may go after you. ( very unlikely)

I don't think RCI makes the age rules...the individual resort would. Once you check in, you should have no problem with leaving them the room for the remainder of the week.

Besides the resort, you may want to check on rental cars. So rental agencies won't rent to someone under 25. Others (and it changes by locations as well as companies) will rent to younger people.

I'm sure they don't want to be stranded so please look into it!

According to RCI terms and conditions for using a guest certificate, the guest must be 21 years or older. If you are the one checking into the Manhattan Club, you shouldn't need a guest certificate.

Jeanine,
MC for 20 yr olds sounds like fun. My oldest son lives in NYC and we exchanged into MC for a week and let him stay there for 3 days also. It was a treat for him and better than his teeny apt. He was 24 at the time.

There is just so much to do in NYC. Age restriction would be up to the resort. Just call MC and ask.

Jeanine,

The minimum age requirement is 21 for RCI's exchange program. However, resorts have widely varying policies on the minimum age as well as whether underage persons are even allowed to stay with adults/parents. Most allow teenagers with older adults or parents. Some will even allow younger adults as long as the parents take financial responsibility. You will definitely want to contact the resort before confirming.

Thanks, everyone.

I called the MC and they said it would be fine.
