I am looking to give a getaway to my cousin. It would be for some marriott in Hawaii. As you can imagine I need to snag one pretty quick as they would not last long.

However, I am curious. Can you cancel a getaway within 24 hours like an exchange or are you locked in the minute you complete the transaction?

I believe you're locked in on getaways, no cancellations at all.

Unless II's policy has been changed recently, a Getaway can be canceled within 24 hours with no penalty, just as an exchange can.

I was also under the impression that getaways are not refundable.

In the 2011-12 Interval book under the terms section, it states: "II's Exchange Cancellation Policy does not apply to Getaway Confirmations. Any cancellation of a Getaway Confirmation results in the loss of the unit. Getaway fees will not be refunded under any circumstances."

I would ask a II rep directly to clarify this before hitting the purchase button.
